While the other women welcomed Barbara into their official club, the house maid entered the parlor and whispered something to Jackie. A moment later, Jackie approached Barbara, looking very concerned.
"Barbara, I'm afraid I have some very bad news. My house-keeper just answered a phone call from a friend of yours, Edna Genda. She's waiting on the line for you."
"I hope you don't mind, I gave my friend your phone number, in case of an emergency." Speaking the word made Barbara anxious, and she worried that Edna was calling about Buck.
"It's your airport," Jackie said gravely. "It's on fire!"
