Toying absently with a small white flower, and wondering if this indeed was the best plan, Alannah asked, "If I say yes, will I be able to find a job in Port Lira, do you think?"
"Not to worry," Rosemary told her. "I will take care of everything. You just leave it up to me. Now come, let us join the others. Can you join the group and act as though we never spoke of this? Do I have your word on this? If anyone were to find out, it could cost us both very dearly."
"No, Rosemary I think I will stay here a bit longer." Alannah said, looking her directly in the eye. "If I am to take you up on this offer, right now I have some thinking to do. Now once again, please leave me in peace."
Erik had finally found her, he knew that Eraldo was up to no good. He hoped that he had gotten to Alannah before Erlado had. He had to take the chance now, before it was too late.
"Alannah?"
Alannah looked up, and the man she saw before her startled her. She jumpped to her feet and thre her arms around him, tears of joy ran down her cheeks. "Erik? Erik is that truly you? Where have you been? What happened to you?"
"Whoa - one question at a time. Yes it's me, Father exiled me after Eraldo, I wanted to take you with me but he wouldn't have it. I moved to New York when you were ten. The hospital found me and of course because I was your closest living relative they called me. I visited you every day, paid your bill and I have been following you ever since to make sure you would be okay." Erik explained "Alannah you are in danger, Eraldo has also followed you, he has sent a telegraph to father letting him know where you are. He is also working with a woman here on the island to kidnap you and hand you over to father, that or kill you."
"Erik are you certain?"
"Yes, I have been following him ever since I got here, I have been able to get close enough to listen in on his conversations. He has hired a couple thugs, Alannah this is serious, do not trust anyone here but those you have been with from the beginning."
With this new information, Alannah wanted to get Dominic away from Rosemary and talk to him, but she didn't know if she could. Just then Dominic looked up and say Alannah talking to an unknown male and stood up, excused himself from the group and walked over to where Alannah and Erik were talking. He looked at Alannah with love and concern in his eyes that he could not hide.
