"How is it that you know your father has been funding Eraldo?" Captain Martinez asked.

"I kept Eraldos' books, until I found out where the money and guns were coming from, I needed a job. Eralso was all too happy to give me one, I knew I should have been suspicious but I wasn't. When I found the out truth I quit, told Eraldo I had a better offer, which wasn't a lie. I had gotten a job with the New York Times as an Editior in Chief. I stayed at that job until the hospital called me about Alannah, then I quit and followed her here."

Alannah considered all this information for a couple of moments, as Maria gave her a cup of coffee, she shook her head. "I knew that when I turned sixteen I was to marry a man of my Father's choosing, the man was a well known associate of our father, I wanted nothing to do with that man. After I figured things out for myself it was a week before the wedding when I decided to run. I told Timothie in a letter and just ran. I stole some money, took as many clothes as I could carry in my carpetbag and left the family behind. I can tell you that my father is a very powerful man, very wealthy and he does his best to maintain his social standing. He has politicians in his back pocket, he owns several banks, and has ties to influental men all around the world. If he has done something like this it is under the radar or he had bough men in law enforcement and judges. I never wanted to be a part of this and because of that I was beaten, whenever I objected to anything, I got the whip." She said with more tears in her eyes, "at this point I wouldn't put it past my father to do anything."

The Captain gave her a stern look. At last, he said, "What was it that you witnessed?"

"Our father," Alannah began nervously looking at Jakob, who nodded giving approval to continue. "Had taken a girl my age, and raped her several times, then when he was done with her he sliced her open and ripped her heart out. I was scared that if he could do that to a village girl, that he could do it to anyone."

"Because you have witnessed this hainous crime, I believe that is why your brother is searching for you. You are the only living witness to murder, do you not see how this looks?"

Alannah shook her head.
