“That‘s hard; the cities were quite different. OK…I would say it was great going up the Statue of Liberty, the view from the London Eye was fantastic too, and all of the Island of Barbados.”

“I wondered why you traveled to so many places…”

“Edward had some business in New York and London and I wanted to do some shopping for the wedding. We only sneaked in the one week in between at Barbados.”

“I envy you. I can‘t wait for when I‘ll be able to travel out of Nigeria.” He had travelled to more states in the country than the rest of them in the family put together.

“I hear Ghana is not expensive; you might consider that.”

“I may but will you contribute to that?” He laughed. “I‘m out of credit so have to go now. Take care of yourself and Edward.”

“You bet,” Gladys clicked off the phone and lay back on the settee. It had been relaxing speaking with her family and reliving memories of the wonderful vacation she and Edward had enjoyed. She tried calling his number again but he still wasn‘t taking calls, she wondered if he had switched it off or the battery was flat. After a worried sigh, she pressed out Ola‘s number.

“Iyawo. You‘re back! How was the flight?” Are you home?” “Slow your roll girl,” Gladys could feel her friend‘s excitement chasing away her worry instantly.

“All right, but give me story please.”

“The flight was fine and we‘re back home now, satisfied?”

“In your dreams! Abeg let‘s have all the details since the last time. How was Barbados?”

It was difficult not to gush. “Honestly, it was magic. We had such a wonderful stay, it‘s hard to express. We were a little tired after the long bus ride to the resort, but the scenery was so beautiful and our driver so informative that the time went by quickly. From the time we got off the bus on the first day to boarding it again on the last day, life was super relaxing.”

“Edward was right to insist you people went then. You wanted to use that for your honeymoon, remember?”

“Yes, I was thinking about flight plans, and the romantic factor. But I‘m glad we took his advice. It was fantastic! The workers were the friendliest people you could ever meet; it took us less than 10 minutes to check in. They escorted us to our room and explained everything about the resort to us. After a quick nap and a snack at the BBQ place, we just walked around the resort. The flowers and trees were amazing! Everything was so nicely manicured and clean, and the beach…La Campagne could learn a thing or two.”
