I looked out the window as a bird swooped past on fluttering wings. I wished that I had wings. So many options ran through my head. All I could hear are my screams.

"Okay" I whispered. Knowing it was pointless to argue, pushing aside the ugly memories. Reminding myself to stay in the present.

"Good. Now I want to discuss your sudden interest in Krav Maga. It can be a bit rough. Couldn't you have found something less painful?"

Okay, I had enough. Walking to the front door. "Good evening mother. I don't mean to rush, but I must get ready for my date." I breathe.

My stomach in knots as I thought about what lay ahead. Flicking imaginary lint from my suit, avoiding her eyes.

"Don't know what makes you think that you can keep the interest of a man like Darryl Stone. He is way out of your league." she spat, eyeing me coldly.

My cheeks colored, fiddling with my belt.

"He is obviously playing you." walking towards me and for a moment I had a brain to mouth filter malfunction and I wasn't proud of myself.

"Get out." Stepping aside, allowing her to past.

A sharp shot of laughter flies from her mouth. "You are such an idiot. You are nothing like Ashley and personally I have always wished that you were the one dead."
