Bang. Bang. Bang.

"Open up Adela, please."

"Go away" scrambling to my feet.

Pacing the kitchen, biting my freshly polished nails, swigging my wine. I snatched the cordless off the hook.

Maybe I should just call the police. Pacing some more up and down, clutching the phone.

He bangs again.

What's he thinking? Is he that desperate? I should be intrigued, but I wasn't. Okay just a little.

Bang. Bang. Bang.

"I will call the cops."

"Whatever, Adela. Call the cops. I am not going anywhere until we talk. Please."

Bang. Bang. Bang.

I raise the volume. Trying to ignore him.

"You forget that I have your keys. I am letting myself in."

Shit. Shit. Shit. Looking for a place to hide. Lowering the volume.

For god's sake, stop being so pathetic, Adela. Resting my glass down.

I could do this.

I wanted to keep my eyes closed and hold my breath, but I needed to see and breathe.

Building my defenses.

My hair a knotted mess, my face oily. Hopefully he wouldn't find me attractive and go away. The worst I look, the better.

I stormed across the floor plan from the kitchen to the living room, opening the door in a huff.

I am doomed. I keep underestimating, forgetting the effect he had on me.

Damn you Jamie, trembling at the sight of him.
