"You are an animal. A beast. How dare you hit me?" rubbing my slightly burning cheek.

He shakes me. "I want to live, if you don't, Adela." Taking my arm. "Now come on."

Arms linked together, we scurried down the remaining stairs to the lobby. Darryl's eyes scanning the area as the madness increases. Two men. Young. Probably in their late twenties to early thirties were making their way towards us. Their eyes held no mercy.

I started deep breathing.

Tattooed lighting bolts adorned their necks. One has the number 510 tattooed on his shaven eyebrow. In his right hand he is holding a gun. A black .45 automatic pistol. Were they members from the rival gangs? The opposing clan? Ear splitting wails can be heard from the fire trucks as they draw nearer.

Two uniformed rookies already on the scene approached the killers from behind. Eyes moving everywhere. Mouths closed.

"Freeze. Dont move."

The men raises their hands slowly. The men rather calm and the officers moved more confidently, making their way around them. Suddenly, a blast fires in the small gap and few onlookers scrambled out the door. Tumbling over one another as the officers slumped to the floor.

The men then closed in on us with the .45 held high. Only then did Darryl released my hand shoving me aside.
