“That’s outrageous.” Ricky breathed.

“She always convinced me that my father will never believe me because he knew I had nowhere to go, nowhere I could think of. She was trapped.”

“And what did your father do to you?” his voice was low and pained.

“You mean apart from listening to my mother and neglecting me? He always evoked fear in me, even though he always said he loved me no matter my mental condition. Ricky was pale, his face tightly drawn.

“Come to me babe,” he pulled her into his arms, he hugged her close, swung her up, into the house and gently placed her on the couch. Her head was spinning and she was sobering up. Sad stories followed each other as if she had written a line up.

“I’m so angry with your mother right now. I feel like I was the one neglected and mistreated. I haven’t felt like this in a long time.”

“I didn’t want to tell you about my past, I hate when people feel pity for me.”

“I don’t pity you, on the contrary, I respect you. But damn, I’m furious about what you had to go through. I want to go to your mom’s room and tear her apart. I’m sorry you had to go through that.”
