Page 42

After an hour long nap, Mike and a few others finally awoke and finished their lunch. Everyone was well rested and ready to have some more fun. All of the kids played tag and hide and seek while Toby and Debbie started a bon fire in the fire ring in the center of the sitting area. Once the fire was good and ready, Toby sharpened some tree branches and handed each group member their own stick, while Debbie went to the van to retrieve some goodies. When she arrived the kids were pleasantly surprised to see that she had a huge bag of marshmallows. Each student was given a marshmallow and instructed to place it on the end of their stick. For the next few minutes they all sat and roasted marshmallows. Once they finished their marshmallows, Toby told ghost stories as they all sat around the campfire and listened. By this time it as pretty dark out and they could hear the crickets and frogs from the creek nearby. It was almost time to go as it was getting pretty late. Toby put out the campfire, while Debbie and the kids cleaned up the area and washed their hands. Debbie gathered up all of their belongings and began loaded all of the kids into the van. Once everyone was loaded up and ready to go. Toby and the group said their good-byes and all of the kids thanked him for everything. On the ride back almost all of the kids slept including Lindsey and her brother. While everyone slept, Lindsey’s sister Laura and Debbie stayed awake and discussed their trip and how fun it was. Because of all of the excitement over Mike falling from the hill, nobody noticed that Laura had brought her camera and had been taking pictures of all of nature’s beauty the entire time. She couldn’t wait to get home and tell her mother everything about their trip and get her pictures developed to show everyone.
