Lord Xue Ying

The thin old man clutched the crystal ball with one hand as his body swiftly turned to dodge Feng Dong’s strike.
“You’re quite fast, aren’t you?” Feng Dong became getting irritated. As a Transcendent of the Xia Clan, it was his duty to protect his clan. He was furious at what happened. His strength flared up and his speed increased to the point that it exceeded that of the old man, becoming a bizarre shadow.. His fame as the Ghost Deity Knight was precisely due to his way of fighting being akin to the ghost of a god.
Clang clang, with one hand clutching the crystal ball, the thin old man only had one hand to defend. He rigorously moved to blocked the halberd,, which became a phantom. He became unable to defend against it, and his body was pierced.
The old man sneered. “It’s futile.” His complexion suddenly changed when his previously pierced abdomen began making a gushing sound and his body started to erode.
Feng Dong’s expression changed slightly. “A soul body? Too bad your opponent was me, the Ghost Deity Knight!”
Hu.
The old man immediately pulled the crystal ball into his storage space. Once inside, the crystal ball’s influence over the entire county was released.
Those still in a trance due to the crystal ball’s influence regained their sanity. They were devastated.
“No, no…”
“Master!”
“How…how could this happen?”
They were terrified upon realizing what happened—their previous actions. This hell-like scene was worse than any nightmare they had!
“Who are you? Why are you collecting all of these vengeful spirits?” Feng Dong angrily asked as he continued attacking.
“My master is the great lord, Nuo Nuo An,” the old man shouted. “You can’t kill me!”
Feng Dong roared back, “Nuo Nuo An? Who is he, and from which realm is he from?” All the while, he didn’t stop attacking, and his halberd finally broke through the old man’s defenses. He pierced his body again and again. His attacks were obviously damaging the old man whose body was starting to blur.
Ordinary attacks wouldn’t have been able to hurt evil spirits, but Feng Dong’s were different. His Profound Mysteries allowed him to damage them.
Weng~~
As the old man reached his last breaths, a shadow appeared behind him. Forming an illusory green skull, it shouted, “Xia Clansman, stop!”
“Are you Nuo Nuo An? You’re slaughtering the people of my Xia Clan. Why would I stop?” He continued attacking, and each of his attacks caused the old man’s body to blur further.
“Xia Clan Transcendent, aren’t you Ghost Knight Feng Dong of the Black White Deity Mountain? Let my subordinate go, or die,” the skull threatened.
“There’s only path for a mass murderer of my Xia Clan—death!” With lightning speed, Feng Dong’s halberd continued to attack. The old man was finally no longer able to resist, as he vanished into thin air with a mournful scream, leaving only his storage space behind.
“Damn!” the illusory skull cursed as it dissipated.
Feng Dong grabbed the storage space. He rummaged through it and quickly found the crystal ball, which he broke as soon as it was out.
Numerous vengeful ghosts were released and, under the laws of the World, disappeared without trace.
“Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.” Feng Dong showed a dreary expression as he listened to the ghosts wailing. He detested people who killed recklessly. His experiences from his younger days had turned him into something more ghost than human.
He descended into the county city. Looking at this scene of wailing people, some of them teenagers, made him remember his younger self.
Within a patio behind the Bloodshed Tavern, Xue Ying was still discussing with the group of three from the Bloodshed Tavern. He could feel that the leader, Chen Qiu, had a very favorable impression towards him, in contrast to the other two who viewed him unfavorably.
The old man with the goatee and the bald man in yellow robes were discussing in secret.
“This is strange. The Manor Master is usually aloof, yet he is actually receiving Xue Ying so well. It’s truly rare for him to be like this.”
“Indeed, the Manor Master is usually like this only with several of his close relatives.”
They talked for a while more and Xue Ying was preparing to leave when, all of a sudden, his expression changed.
“Xue Ying, there have been mass killing in our Tranquil Sun Province. Three cities have reported casualties of large amounts of mortals. They died miserable deaths, and the total number of victims might be more than a billion.”
“Brother Dong Bo, there have been mass killings in the majority of our Xia Clan’s nineteen provinces. We lost contact with some of the Transcendents who lived in those cities. We’re certain they’re not dead, since their communication wristbands would have sent signals. It was only after the Ghost Knight, Feng Dong, made a report to the Infernal Palace that we found out what was happening and we sent patrols. The losses these time were enormous.”
“Xue Ying…”
Reports were coming one after another.
Xue Ying was in a shock, and he found it hard to believe.
Billions? ‘Billion’ was too simple of a word to represent these countless amounts of people. As he traveled around the world, mingling with the mortals together with his wife for a hundred years, Xue Ying not even once thought himself to be above those mortals. To him, with the exception that Transcendents were more powerful than mortals, they were exactly the same. He had taught those ordinary kids spearmanship in a sincere and equal way. He was shocked to hear about those mass killings which took place.
“Oh?” Chen Jiu knit his eyebrows. “Xue Ying, did something occur in your Xia Clan?”
Xue Ying replied in a slightly hoarse voice, “Right.”
“You have to be careful. Considering the fierce, brutal method they used, they might be backed by people from the Deity World. But they’ve never been so open and arrogant before. Perhaps the Dark Abyss is behind this then. Such actions are normal in the chaotic Dark Abyss. My guess is that these massacres with the goal of gathering souls were done by the group of Demigods from the Dark Abyss,” Chen Jiu explained.
“The Demigods from the Dark Abyss?” Xue Ying asked in response.
Chen Jiu replied, “I’ve told you, the group I’m most cautious of from all which descended here is that from the Dark Abyss. They are different from those Demigods from the mortal worlds of the Deity World. Their innate talents are comparable to Deity Artifacts, and the members of the group which arrived this time aren’t just any ordinary demons. They’ve undergone a process of selection, and the ones remaining are all top existences.
“The killings in the Dark Abyss are wicked, and the competition is fierce. With their talents and power, the members selected for this group of Demigods must be incredibly powerful.” Chen Jiu continued, “You Xia Clan must be more vigilant. Since they dare be so brazen, they obviously don’t care about you.”
Xue Ying was moved by his Chen Jiu’s care. “Thank you for you concern, Brother Chen Jiu. I won’t stay any longer.”
“Mn, we will use the communication wristband to contact you later about our departure.” Chen Jiu gave his farewell. The communication wristband in his possession was that of the Xia Clan which Palace Head Chen gifted to him. The wristbands of other planes could not be used to communicate with those of the Xia Clan.
Xue Ying arrived outside one of the big cities of the Xia Clan. He looked around the city and its surrounding villages. They air was dense with the stench of blood and there were corpses scattered around wherever he looked.
Everyone was dead, not a single one spared.
Viewing this scene sent chills through his heart.
“Damn, damn!” Xue Ying gritted his teeth. He had visited this city together with his wife in the past. They tried many snacks, and even bought cakes for the local children. But now, everyone was dead, the city had become a ghost city.
Entering the city, Xue Ying’s eyes were tinged with red. The hexing poison had brought him close to death, but it also made him treasure life! He loved children, and despite him and Jing Qiu not having any, to him, children represented hope, and life. But the state this city was in…
The once bustling city was now dead. Countless corpses were scattered left and right, and the air reeked of blood. This scene made Xue Ying’s heart grow cold. He clenched his fists so tight that his knuckles turned white.
“In your eyes, is my Xia Clan just livestock?”
