Howard Skinner was buried under a large old oak tree in the cemetery behind the Satan Skull’s warehouse hideout. He was from North Charlotte and that graveyard was there too. So it was a fit place for his eternal home. At the funeral, Private Detective Ellis McCain put two good bottles of whiskey in Howie’s coffin. Police Chief Harry Marsh put an American flag, Charlotte City Police patches, several certificates of merit, and twenty police badge in his coffin as a tribute to the good he did do in his life. Tisha had kinda liked Howie. She laid a hundred white lilies on his coffin to honor him. A preacher read from the Holy Bible and said some complimentary words about Howard Skinner. People there bowed their heads in a silent prayer. The casket was lowered into the pit cut in the ground. Shovels worked to fill the pit with soil. One by one the crowd left. The cemetery was again empty. Howie now was at rest. He would not again be tempted into a crime to be arrested, tried, and put back into prison. In death he was now free. A free man forever. Howard Skinner went out of this world with a blaze of glory!
