Shortly before two, Angelina made her way to the Dean’s office. She spoke with Miss Withers, letting her know that she was here for an appointment and that he was expecting her. Miss Withers informed her that she should go right in, but not before looking at her above the rim of her glasses with a reproachful look in her eyes. She had seen the giant man enter into the office not once but twice and both times, he was quick to let her know that he was with the police department. She wondered what was going on, but she was sure that it was not a good thing. So much for little Miss Perfection!
When Angeline entered Dean Jacobs’ office, he stood and said, “Dr. Cole, Detective Rowell.”
She jerked her head around at the man standing in the corner and smiled a true smile of pleasure. Before anything could be said, he scooped her up and gave her a big bear hug.
Laughing, she told him, “Johnnie, put me down!”
He did so then launched into a steady stream of questions. He was firing them at her so quickly that finally, Dean Jacobs interrupted.
“Excuse me. We need to get on with this here. Dr. Cole has a heavy load, and her classes will begin shortly. Now, what is it that you want to know, without bombarding my professor?”
