Just then, his beeper went off. When he checked it, he explained that he needed a phone since it was the office. “I want to use a land line instead of a cell if you don’t mind me calling them back?”

She shook her head indicating she did not mind and then pointed him towards her office. As she dropped to the couch, all she could think of was why me? What have I done to deserve this anger? But then she stopped and cleared her dead. Johnnie was right. There did not have to be a reason. It could be that she had a stalker and when she left, he began to take it out on others. She could have simply smiled at someone that took it the wrong way.

It could always be traced back to an old case. There might be a family member of someone that she helped to put away. There could be a thousand and one different reasons. Or, there could not be a reason at all. That was the scary part; it does not always have to be a why. They just do it.
