Chapter 203: I am strong

Shangguan Qiao Yun saw the back view of him with the gun raised and firing, the lonely figure that walked in the middle of the town, the one who hid in the corner and cried, the one who wielded his sword and cut down the rats at the door, all of these back views superimposed into one body.

Seeing his back that was not that broad, she wished to dissolve into him. She fired the last bullet at the rats, then threw her pistol and walked to his back and hugged him. She had decided to die with him, thoughts flashed past her mind at supersonic speed and froze at the moment inside the pitch black arsenal where he held her hands and ran at the crates.

He had long thrown the empty rifle down to the ground and used the large caliber pistol to fire at the rats. With one last bullet left, he aimed the Desert Eagle at the 70mm warheads stacked neatly at his side.

A thin figure wielding a black pistol ran over.

It was him, the man with the black frame spectacles that had a thin string hooked behind his head, the man who looked extremely easy to bully, Wang Chong. The one Zhang Xiao Qiang judged as an Otaku. With his thin frame, he hugged onto a 70mm warhead and ran towards the rat tide without even turning back.

Zhang Xiao Qiang’s gaze followed Wang Chong as he ran with the 4kg warhead into the rat tide.

Multiple rats climbed onto him and bit him, his yellow uniform became stained with red stripes of blood. He ignored the rats on his body and ignored the intense pain birthed from the wounds of the rat bites. His body spasmed due to the pain but ignored everything. The once cowardice and weak him had his eyes completely fixed onto the underground passage made by the rats.

Wang Chong continued to struggle within the rat tide while holding onto the heavy warhead. He could feel pieces of his body being bitten off by the rats hanging on his body, he could feel the warhead in his hand becoming heavier, he could feel the waves of intense pain striking him from within, as though he would be knocked down from the next attack. All of these feelings mixed together could be considered the most despairing emotion.

But this despair did not knock the weak Wang Chong. He had decided the moment he stepped forward to grab the warhead.

From the beginning, he had always been the weak one in everyone’s eyes, even his parents thought that he was a timid child. Only he knew that he was not, but seeing how his parents had to suffer every possible hardship to bring him up and earnestly taught him how to be a decent human being, he gave in. He kept giving in, thus everyone bullied him.

Even the girl that he had a crush on looked down on him. He wanted to rebel, he wanted to tell the whole world that he was not afraid, he was afraid of no one. But ultimately, he was still afraid, when he saw his father that bent under the pressure of life, when he saw his mother growing white hair, he became afraid. He was not willing to watch his parents become disappointed.

He was in love, he liked the girl, her smile, her eyes, her adorable temper. He gave all of his love and respect to her, he accepted her everything with his open mind. When the girl nodded and agreed to date him, he felt as though he was the happiest man on earth.

He wished to tell everyone that he knew about how good the girl she was, how adorable she was, how much he liked her. Yes, everyone, be it his friends or enemies.

It was a pity, the bliss was short-lived. How could the pampered girl truly know what a genuine heart was? She yearned to boast, she yearned for glory, she wanted to keep up with the trends and fashion, all of which he could not provide.

The girl wanted to break up with him. Seeing the familiar yet unfamiliar face, he nodded his head. The moment he nodded, his heart split into two. He did not wish to stay inside the city that made its citizens feel depressed. He left for the outside world, studied in a university and found work outside. In a flash, four years passed, by the time he returned home, the world had changed.

When he escaped, he had no clue as to what had happened. He encountered Brother Long and the rest and realized that everywhere else changed. Humankind became zombies and the remaining survivors lived in fear at the edge of the zombies’ mouth. Every single day, the pain of losing his loved ones tore at his heart, but amidst the pain, he felt a sense of relaxation, he felt free of the binds. There were no one for him to conduct himself, no one to teach him to endure bully. His heart felt free, an empty freedom…. Under other else’s distrust in him, he joined the food search team. All of the men who were stronger or looked more ferocious than him hid in the corners and ate chicken feed, while everyone else thought that he should be the one to eat chicken feed, he actually ate rice.

There was a once person who wanted to provoke him, to challenge him. Without any regards for his life, he hugged that person and exchanged blows with him, he spat out blood as the aggressor had stabbed his heart with a hidden dagger. In that bout, that was the real him. When Zhang Xiao Qiang dropped down the cave, no one dared to go down, but he did, because he felt that if he were to be afraid, he would no longer be his true self, but the bespectacled Wang Chong that was constantly bullied, and not the one who could stand tall for himself.

He always maintained a respectful appearance in front of Zhang Xiao Qiang, when he saw the D2 colliding onto the wall, he became afraid, he was equally as afraid as the rest. He felt that it was impossible for any human being to kill that monster, especially a monster that could not be killed by Brother Long and his team’s rifles, but Zhang Xiao Qiang did it. Wang Chong resolved himself to follow Zhang Xiao Qiang, to do what he does, learn what he knew. He set Zhang Xiao Qiang as his goal because Zhang Xiao Qiang was sufficiently strong and fearsome.

When the rat tide broke through the surface, he was on the watchtower. Upon seeing that, he and the rest were stunned, including Three. They originally thought that they had placed the rat mountain under control, so all of them had relaxed. When they saw the ferocious tide of rats appearing from underneath the ground, they were not shocked but were instantly filled with despair.

Zhang Xiao Qiang’s gun shots woke Wang Chong up. He saw Zhang Xiao Qiang below firing calmly. His heart was invigorated, seeing the highly explosive warheads by Zhang Xiao Qiang’s legs, an emotion never before felt surfaced in his heart.

He grabbed a Type-92 pistol from an elite’s thigh and flew down the watchtower steps. He could not feel the trembles in his legs when he saw Zhang Xiao Qiang pointing the pistol at the warhead. He ran over and picked one up and made the decision: A single man’s death is better than a group, if we have to die, let me be the first.

“Just a little more, just a little more….”

Wang Chong hugged the warhead and kept on moving towards the rats’ underground entrance. His body was already completely covered with rats that kept on wiggling on him, nibbling and biting on his flesh, but he was already numb to the pain.

At that moment, he only cared to protect two things, his hands, and his eyes. His hands hugged onto the warhead and held onto a pistol while his eyes remained fixed on the entrance. He did not allow himself to deviate at all. One large rat jumped from his chest to his face, to which he reacted by lowering himself and using his forehead to smash onto the rat’s body. When it landed into the tide of rats, he finally made it…

“PA….” the sound of the Type-92 Pistol sounded from the underground entrance.

“RUMBLE…..” An earth-shattering explosion occurred.

The blazing red pillar instantly ripped countless of rats up and threw them into the sky.

A powerful shockwave spread across the ground and smashed the rats onto the wall. Countless of rats were torn to shreds by the rat while many more had their heads smashed against the wall and died.

Charred rat corpses dropped from the sky, the underground tunnel made by the rats was abruptly stopped like a fountain without water, aside from the green smoke emitting from the ground, there were no other movements.
