Under the cold drizzle, she remained on the sidewalk. She looked upward mindlessly, oblivious to the people and the roaring sound of the morning traffic, when a commercial van drove too close to where she stood by the street curb. Before she could move out of the way there was sudden impact and the truck’s front tire sent a force of pooled rainwater directly at her like a dirty, muddy wave.

"You idiot!" she yelled as the truck drove off. Aliziana stood there in complete disbelief. It only took a moment for her fury to build as the cold filthy rainwater saturated her beautiful wool jacket, flowed down her stockings and settled into her shoes. She felt an engulfing warm rush of embarrassment come over her as she made her way to the studio. Her anger started to dissipate when she realized that the crowd of people on the sidewalk were in a mad rush to get off to work and no one had a New York minute to even notice her soggy wet state.

Stopped at the intersection of E 48th St. and 5th Ave. Thomas seethed. He looked towards the sidewalk where Aliziana had been standing just moments before. He hadn't witnessed the wave of rainwater or embarrassment wash over her but he noticed her brushing off her jacket and she looked pissed off - ready for a good fight and most likely with him, he concluded.
