The shoes weren't broken in and only now, I realize my feet were in full protest. Sighing heavily I pressed my back against the mattress.

I am alone. I am angry and I am hungry. It's my own damn fault of course, for not grabbing a plate in my haste to get away.

I think, I must doze off. For when I awoke, Darryl was next to me. Asleep. He is facing me and I take this time to study him. I could feel his heat, even though he wasn't touching me.

Darryl Stone is out of my league. How many times must I remind myself of this? More important than that, he's dangerous. The mask he wears so skillfully has fallen. My first instinct was to touch him, but decided not too.

His gorgeous face looks younger, relaxed in sleep. His mouth slightly parted. His gun lay dangerously on the bedside table. For a moment I wondered if it was legally registered. Tempted to take it up and have a closer look. I shake my head, I might end up shooting myself or worst.

Him.

Slipping out of bed, I try not to wake him. Padding over the closet. If I didn't know better, we could almost pass as a happily married couple. Sharing a hotel room together, looking over my shoulder. Finding it notable, how he scares me. More than any man I have ever known. Yet he hasn't done anything to make me feel this way.
