Chapter 231: Give Up That Unrealistic Dream Of Yours

The girls were only able to get up lazily from their beds late that night. Without a care for how inappropriately they were dressed, the girls picked up some underwear and headed to the bathroom in giggles, completely ignoring Baiyi, who had just come out from the laboratory when he heard the noise.

Moments later, more bursts of girlish giggles could be heard from the bathroom. The ongoing conversation could be faintly heard:

"Speaking of which, when I was sleeping, I felt someone poking my face..."

"Me too, it felt like someone was rubbing my leg... was it just an illusion? Maybe we were too exhausted, so our minds played tricks on us..."

Baiyi immediately left the house to get dinner for the girls…

When he returned, the girls were done with their bath. Their faces had been stained red by the steam from their bath, and they lazily slung themselves over the sofa in the living hall. Fresh out of the shower, the blush had stretched across their bare, fair skin; it had been brought to the surface of their skin by the heated water from earlier. Feeling very comfortable at home, without many clothes on, this alluring spectacle was boldly displayed before Baiyi.

"Cough, cough... someone from the restaurant will be delivering dinner in a while; perhaps, you should put on more clothes..." said Baiyi awkwardly as he swiftly pulled his gaze away from Mia's body. He had no idea what was wrong with the little rascal; she had wrapped her entire body around Attie. With their limbs intertwined, Mia was rubbing against her face against Attie's. The two girls — the scent and charm of ebony and ivory — were entangled and intertwined in such a way that the scene was too... indecent to look at.

Thank heavens that only Baiyi alone was allowed to savor this side — or sight… of them. Upon hearing that someone would be coming over, they quickly scurried upstairs to put on proper clothing. A while later, a marvelous spread was served on the dining table in the hall.

Baiyi sat next to Mia as the girls happily dug into the feast, and he helped to cut up the lamb chop — which was an absolute favorite of the girls — into smaller pieces and placed a piece into everyone's plate. As he busied himself, he took the opportunity to give an overall compliment. "Everyone performed very well this time! You have all worked hard; I am incredibly proud of you."

"Although Master said we saved the lives of a hundred million people, but... why don't I feel...anything?I only remembered that I was just following Sharky's guidance, focusing on weaving the spell..." Tisdale confessed in a humble manner.

"I also think that... I didn't do much," echoed Mia. 'Why does it feel like... there was nothing deserving of this praise?'

"It's impossible for one person to pull off such a feat, so everyone's effort is significant. This victory belongs to everyone — so, of course, the glory belongs to everyone, as well!" Baiyi said positively towards the Mia and Tisdale.

"Is that so? The fact that I helped everyone... that's something worth being happy about, I suppose, especially being able to do so with Sir Hope!" cried Mia happily.

'Such a well-behaved girl!' Listening to Mia's joyful ramblings, Baiyi warmly caressed her head, causing Tisdale who was standing beside her to put on hopeful expression as well. Hence, Baiyi stood between them and caressed their heads at the same time –

smiles of satisfaction and joy broke out on their faces simultaneously.

Sometimes all it took was one or two compliments or a heart-warming action for one to experience the little pleasures in life. Thus, the banquet which held after a week in celebration of the realm's victory paled in comparison to this warm family dinner.

Baiyi and his family had no choice but to attend the banquet, not because it was a special invite not from mere aristocrats, but because the invite had come from Rowan himself, so they had to show some form of courtesy by showing up. The girls seemed very worked up over the event — except Attie — because they had never had the opportunity to attend a royal affair like this.

However, their nervousness did not stop them from dressing magnificently. They were easily the center of attention during the banquet.

King Rowan was the first person Baiyi encountered during the banquet. Technically speaking, he should be addressed as 'Prince Rowan' instead... The fact that the Walthart Emperor had acknowledged him as a prince of a different surname, it was not hard to guess what kind of political deals were going on behind the scenes. A hundred million lives in exchange for a title of prince; it seemed a little feudal, but this deal was a bloody loss no matter how it was perceived.

In this world, the population was a highly important capital. In a society void of professions — and one where magic was not used in production — manpower was a highly sought-after resource. Furthermore, this band of refugees were not just humans that merely reproduce and collapse, most of them consisted of sturdy, young men. Hence, excluding the ones recruited into the infantry, the remaining refugees were eyed hungrily by every single aristocrat as extremely prized possessions.

If it was not for negotiation successfully bargained between the Emperor and the kingdom, the refugees could have been treated as slaves instantly, loaded up the carts like cattle and be readied to be auctioned. Instead, they were given proper identification as recognized citizens of the land.

Meeting Rowan for the second time, the scene got a little awkward. To be honest, a prince-titled, marquis-ranked noble like him was nothing compared to Baiyi — a hero who had saved the world twice. Baiyi might be a commoner without any flashy titles and ranks, but he was someone admired and respected by the dignitaries. Hence, during this encounter, Prince Rowan initiated the pleasantries as a form of respect.

"No matter what it was, you still protected your people, Your Highness. That was an unexpected tragedy, it was no one's fault." Baiyi was totally uninterested in power. He did not put on the arrogance of a savior; instead, he offered his condolences and patted the Prince Rowan's shoulder in an amicable manner

Baiyi's congeniality stemmed unrealistic ideas in the Prince's heart. After exchanging more pleasantries, he steered the topic of discussion towards the direction of marriage.

"Over there — that's my youngest son, Jerincho Rowan." With a glass of wine in hand, Prince Rowan pointed towards a handsome boy who was in the middle of entertaining other dignitaries. "He is quite outstanding... being able to blend in the circle of nobles so quickly," said the Prince, with a hint of cockiness.

'What's this trash up to? He wouldn't mean to have me take that lad under my wing, would it? No offense, boys are not welcomed... no, not even lads dressed as girls!' Baiyi mulled as he listened on.

Prince Rowan babbled on and on, and his gaze never ceased to linger on Baiyi's girls from time to time. Furthermore, he emphasized greatly on how his 'Prince' title was hereditary; how it might not render unlimited power like Gouve's, but it was still considered the most influential amongst the aristocrats. He went on to hint not-so-subtly that he still held significant influence over the Brotherhood of Fire Wyverns, and last but not least, he mentioned how his loyal guards had managed to salvage most of the treasure during the evacuation, obviously flaunting his wealth.

At the end of the end — finally — he proposed the idea of marriage. "Just think about it, Sir Hope, we should allow the youngsters from both sides to mingle around more, eh? This would definitely bring us both..."

After Prince Rowan revealed his true intentions, Baiyi was no longer interested in listening further. Placing both his palms on each side of the Prince's shoulders, Baiyi stared directly into his eyes as he made his message loud and clear, uttering each word intelligibly.

"Listen up, give up this unrealistic dream of yours — do NOT come and disrupt my students, or else, be prepared to witness an apocalypse even worse than the last..."

After delivering his message, he turned on his heels and left the scene with the girls.
