When she entered the front door, Garrett scooped her into her arms and held tight. "I am never letting you go, Caitlin Chadwick."

"Good. It's about time." Their kisses transcended both time and space. They finally found their place together in life.

"Even with all the excitement of today I have something to ask and I don't want to wait any longer. First, will you read this?" He handed her a letter. A linen piece of stationary with a W on the top called to her. She gingerly took it out of the envelope and unfolded it, revealing a neat handwriting.

My dearest Caitlin, The young girl I once knew has grown into a beautiful woman who is independent, strong, capable, yet loving and endearing. You are your grandmother and grandfather rolled into one. What isn't to love about you? Though recent times have been rocky and unpredictable due to exterior and interior forces, you are the light of my life. Without you my world is empty. Without you I have nothing. He opened a black velvet box and exposed a ring.

"Caitlin, you are everything to me." He took her hands as he swallowed and then licked his lips. "I don't want to spend another minute here without you. When I realized what could have happened today, my heart stopped beating. You make living worthwhile and exciting. Life has been unexpectedly difficult these past few months, but let's put that behind us and start anew today." Garrett cleared his throat, bent down on one knee, and said, "Caitlin MacAllister Chadwick, will you be my wife?"
