“What? Is everything okay? Did I hurt you?” His hands dropped as if he’d touched hot coals. For the first time since she’d known him, he looked unsure of himself. Nervous even.
“Everything is more than okay. The baby’s kicked before, but never that hard. He must know his father is here.”
He pulled her close against him and kissed her deeply. “And I’m never leaving your side again.”
“As if I would let you.” She murmured softly against his mouth and smiled when the baby kicked again. Their baby.
