Page 358The police came and took the crazed Ahn Sujun away.
The Ahn Sujun who had walked into Quande Roast Duck with Xia Xue had been suave and handsome but the Ahn Sujun leaving resembled a fool with a face full of bloody scratches, and was very much worse for wear.
Annina had driven his Chevrolet Suburban away so Xia Lei hailed a taxi after leaving the restaurant and went straight to the headquarters of Bureau 101.
On his way there, he tried calling Lu Sheng several times but his phone was off and he couldn’t get through.
Xia Lei’s thoughts were heavy with worry.
After Lu Sheng had recovered, Xia Lei had sent him with Qin Xiang to Jingdu. Thunder Horse Military Factory had its own military security so it did not need Lu Sheng to guard it. He had just one job and that was to protect Xia Xue. He should have been next to Xia Xue or close by, but he had gone missing.
Xia Lei had a feeling that something had happened to Lu Sheng.
It was simple - Ahn Sujun would have no opportunity to make his move if Lu Sheng were around. Lu Sheng was a Special Forces soldier and had practised Wingchun for a few years so how was Ahn Sujun his opponent? Furthermore, Lu Sheng had worked as a bodyguard after retirement and was highly professional; this must have hindered Ahn Suhyeong and Ahn Sujun’s plans.
It now looked like Ahn Sujun would have made his move long ago if it weren’t for Lu Sheng. Ahn Sujun probably made a move today because Xia Lei had ‘released’ himself!
Xia Lei got angrier the more he thought about it. He couldn’t stand to have anyone hurt Xia Xue and Ahn Suhyeong had hurt her!
Xia Lei found Long Bing in Bureau 101.
“I just got the news,” said Long Bing before Xia Lei could speak. “You, calm down. Don’t be reckless.”
She knew Xia Lei’s temper. He didn’t care if someone hit him but if anyone hurt Xia Xue he would become a terrifying beast and tear the man apart.
Xia Lei spoke coldly, “I risked my life for Bureau 101 but there’s someone who’s now having designs on my sister, trying to use her to get to me and you tell me to calm down? I’ll have you know that the bodyguard I assigned to my sister has gone missing and is not contactable. It’s come to this point - can I still be calm?”
Lu Sheng had saved Xia Xue before and almost lost his life in the process. Now he had gone missing because of her. How could Xia Lei just sit by and do nothing?
Long Bing was silent for a bit before saying, “Lu Sheng. I know this person. We actually had arrangements to protect Xia Xue in secret but you sent Lu Sheng to do it. The higher-ups cancelled protection services for Xia Xue because they had his capabilities assessed and found him fully capable.”
Xia Lei wrinkled his brows. “You guys sure are thrifty.”
“Okay, I know you’re not happy about it but you need to understand our higher-ups’ difficulties. Our manpower is limited,” said Long Bing. “I think Lu Sheng should have told you about your sister dating someone. This sort of thing won’t happen if he had told you.”
“Xia Xue is strong-willed and independent. I’ve thought about it and I think she was probably dating Ahn Sujun in secret. Lu Sheng might have known but my sister could have stopped him from telling me too. I am not blaming Lu Sheng for this. I know my own sister,” said Xia Lei.
Long Bing shrugged. “Sure, then tell me what you want to do.”
“I’m not an unreasonable person. I can understand,” said Xia Lei, “I’ve come here for a simple purpose - Ahn Sujun has been arrested and I want to interrogate him personally. I need approval.”
The door to the office suddenly flew open and Shi Bo-Ren appeared in the doorway. “Ask? Go straight to investigation! Damn it, how dare he touch one of our Bureau 101 family members! He’ll lose a layer of skin if he doesn’t die first!”
Long Bing and Xia Lei couldn’t help exchanging glances.
So Shi Bo-Ren cursed too. This was a first.
But this cursing was quite welcome and a smile appeared in the corners of Xia Lei’s mouth. “Thank you, Boss Shi.”
Shi Bo-Ren put on a serious face again. “Boy, let me remind you that you can’t go overboard. Shinyeok Group is not like Thunder Horse Manufacturing. Ahn Geungan is also not an Uncle buying groceries off the streets. You get what I mean? If you cause any trouble for me I’m going to make sure you pay.”
Xia Lei mustered up a smile. “Thank you, Boss Shi.”
“Go on, shoo. You’re involved in many troublesome things, Boy.” Shi Bo-Ren waved him away.
“Boss Shi, you can’t pin that on me. Would I have bad blood with Ahn Suhyeong if I didn’t have to go to South Korea to steal the sword of Attila?” said Xia Lei.
Shi Bo-Ren gave Xia Lei a glare, but had no words of retort.
An hour later, Xia Lei and Long Bing came to the police station which Ahn Sujun was being held in with an official approval in writing.
Director Li of the police station greeted Long Bing and Xia Lei and brought them personally to a detention room.
Ahn Sujun had come to his senses and was sitting on a stool in the room. He had an outburst of emotion when he saw Xia Lei and rushed to the metal bars to shout at him, “Bastard! I’m going to sue you!”
Xia Lei ignored his outburst.
Director Li frowned. “This punk is very arrogant. He keeps saying that he is a Korean citizen and that he wants to see the people from his consulate, as well as his lawyer. Our officers tried to take his statement but he spoke in Korean. We got a Korean interpreter and this punk spoke English.”
Ahn Sujun pointed at Director Li and said, “I won’t hold it against you for cursing at me. This Xia Lei is a criminal. He injured me! Arrest him now!”
Director Li laughed dryly. “See that? That’s his attitude. He’s a difficult one. I don’t know how this is going to be handled.”
“You can just hand him to us, Director Li. This is the written approval.” Long Bing handed it to Director Li.
Director Li glanced at the document and looked like he just had a weight lifted off his shoulders. “Good, then this punk is yours.”
Ahn Sujun screamed at Director’s Li departure, “Come back! Come back, you punk! Bastard! You’ll regret this!”
“Quiet down,” said Long Bing. She opened the door of the detention room with a key.
The back of Long Bing’s right foot smashed between his legs as soon as the words left his mouth.
“Guh-” Ahn Sujun held his crotch and fell to his knees with a thump.
Xia Lei wrinkled his brows; he’d felt the kick too. This Ahn Sujun sure was stupid to dare to piss Long Bing off at this juncture.
“Hands away,” said Long Bing coldly.
Ahn Sujun did not follow her instruction. He opened his mouth to curse.
Long Bing suddenly stepped viciously on Ahn Sujun’s hand - his hand was still over his crotch. He did have his hand over his vital part but the impact was still great. He gave a terrible scream and curled up on the ground.
Long Bing walked to his back and lifted her foot again to kick him between the legs.
“Argh-” Ahn Sujun squealed like a pig being slaughtered; he almost fainted from the pain.
“Hands away,” said Long Bing softly. “Take your hands away and I’ll only kick once. If you don’t, I’ll just keep kicking.”
No blocking for a kick to that vital place - Long Bing was just that brutal.
Tears poured from Ahn Sujun’s eyes. He was full of inconsolable grief and indignation but he still took his hands away at the sight of Long Bing’s indifference.
Long Bing swung her foot.
“Aaaaah-” Ahn Sujun let out another dying-pig squeal.
Xia Lei was starting to doubt if Ahn Sujun’s manly bits would ever function normally again.
Long Bing grabbed Ahn Sujun by the hair and pulled him off the floor. Her voice was ice. “Let me explain the situation to you. Say anything even a little disrespectful again and I’ll make sure you have to squat to pee for the rest of your life.”
Ahn Sujun’s face was bloodless.
“Kneel!” roared Long Bing.
Ahn Sujun trembled and fell to his knees.
Long Bing glanced at Xia Lei. “He’s yours. You can start now.”
Xia Lei nodded and brought a chair over to sit opposite Ahn Sujun, looking down at him from a higher position. “I’ll just ask you some simple questions. Will you answer?”
Long Bing slapped him upside his head. “Speak!”
“I… I will.” Ahn Sujun had been traumatised by Long Bing.
“Very good. First question: When did you start interacting with my sister?”
“I’ve only known your sister for…” Ahn Sujun thought for a bit. “For a month.”
“What have the two of you done?”
“I didn’t do anything. Really! Your sister is a very reserved girl and she only responded to my flirting after two weeks. I only got a chance to hold her hand after 20 days,” said Ahn Sujun.
A Korean Flower Boy like Ahn Sujun could have a normal girl in bed with him in 20 hours with his coaxing and pestering. Xia Xue wasn’t a girl who could be swayed by pretty words and appearances. This was related to Xia Lei’s ‘rich upbringing’ - he gave her a credit card with a million-yuan limit so how could she be easily tempted?
“My second question: My sister has a bodyguard. How did you get close?”
“I transferred from Korea and I’m in the same class as Xia Xue. We’re classmates… Your bodyguard didn’t suspect me because we were having classmate interactions. Your sister is also very conservative and cautious. I had no chance.”
He had still succeeded in the end. It had taken him 20 days to move Xia Xue’s heart and get to hold her hand. Her letting him hold her hand was proof that she had accepted him and treated him as her boyfriend.
“FInal two questions. Answer them together,” said Xia Lei, “How are you related to Ahn Suhyeong? Where is my sister’s bodyguard now?”
“I…” Ahn Sujun cleverly shut his mouth.
Xia Lei clenched his fist, ready to talk with it.
Just then, some noise reached their ears.
“You have no right to detain the citizens of our country!” It was a man’s voice. “I have the right to meet with him and provide judicial assistance!”
“I’m a lawyer!” came another man’s voice, “If you do not follow legal procedures I have the right to protest to higher authorities and investigate the persons responsible!”
Xia Lei relaxed his fist.
A sneer appeared in the corners of Ahn Sujun’s mouth.
