It was now Friday, and the the end of the first week of the special program class. There was only one week of school left for the year and Lindsey was still struggling to learn to either crochet or knit. Mrs. Count could see that Lindsey was really struggling hard to learn to crochet. It became apparent to her, that she was not going to be able to learn to crochet. Though she understood what she needed to do, she just didn’t seem to have the coordination that it takes to crochet. While most students struggle with learning to knit, and learn to crochet instead, Lindsey was struggling with learning to crochet, and having better luck with learning to knit. Thankfully Mrs. Count had a lot of patience and was willing to teach Lindsey to knit, no matter how frustrated Lindsey became. It was the last week of school, and while all of the other students were finishing up with their projects, Lindsey was still learning how to start hers. As difficult as it was, Lindsey was not going to give up. Determined to see Lindsey succeed, Mrs. Count put everything and everyone else aside and focused every bit of her attention on teaching Lindsey to knit. By the end of the week while Lindsey still struggled, all of the other students had completed their projects and were proud of the things that they had made. Since everyone else was finished, Mrs. Count decided to send them all home early and spend the last couple of days with just Lindsey. The two of them did their best, and by the end of last day, Lindsey had finally learned to knit. Lindsey decided that over the summer, she would apply her skills to make her father a knitted scarf. Her goal was to be able to complete the scarf by Christmas and give it to her father as a Christmas present. Over the next few months, Lindsey spent all of her free time working on the scarf. By the beginning of the next school year, Lindsey had completed the scarf, and was ready to start the new school year, and to get started on another knitting project.
