The Silent Beat Of Eloise

Page 8

The feeling of an incoming energy snatched me out of my trance.

A nervous and quivery feeling, that set my hands trembling making my pencil fall. In a panicked filled haste I dropped down, blindly (oh the irony) picking up twigs instead of a pencil.

SNAP!

I stilled, frozen.

Then I was engulfed in an energy, so intense and powerful, filling my every pore.

Falling, crashing down at a remarkable speed. Heart in my throat, I closed my eyes waiting for an impact that was never there.

With spinning head, I stood fighting a dizziness that threatened to hold. Standing on wobbling feet, a soft wind blew. I felt and uneasiness about this place, it did not feel like the forest from earlier. Here was strange and mysterious, like I was alone in a whole new world.

I crumpled to floor feeling defeated, exhausted and I wept. I was lost and didn't know where to move.

A tropical heat oozed up from the ground, rank with the sharp odours and nettles as if in some sort of consolation.

For the first time in my life, I was alone. In a world whose behaviour I could neither predict nor fathom. Lost and not expecting to be found again. My sobs of despair echoed around me and I slowly fell into a dreamless sleep.
