Page 213

Our uniqueness makes us special, makes perception valuable - but it can also make us lonely. This loneliness is different from being 'alone': You can be lonely even surrounded by people. ''Amy Tan''.

"Hey Karen"; What are you thinking about?

It was Karen's mother who was inquiring after a silent gaze at her facial expressions which seemed to figure it out that She was flummoxed.

"No, Nothing"; Karen replied (Silently).

"Are you hinky and jittering about Dad?"; Mom asked

"I'm just crumbled among all. Mom, you know that Dad's everything to me, my world and my breath"; Karen went on...

"I am missing those days when he used to drop me to university and smilingly, he used to stare at me, her daughter. Somewhere, I found out that he read my eyes everyday and he ransacked into my heart like a True Guardian for me...."

Her dad was lying sick at home and was having a sleep. Doctors had called him and he went for some treatment when he knew that he is internally more sickened than external condition. Karen didn't tell the plight of her dadto anybody. She thought it could be so hectic and painful to her while adding some sympathy for her dad infront of people who usually cared for sometime and left in the darkess. She was just considering it a Sin to tell everyone about it except Georgina to whom she was so attached. She had told her all about her dad. Georgina had been her good class mate since childhood till then.
