Seeking the Flying Sword Path
Page 161Sixteenth Prince followed closely behind and immediately sent a voice transmission, “We are leaving just like that? Elder Lie, are we really not fighting for it?”
“Qin Yun can withstand the Earth fire, making his defense stronger than that bitch Bai Junyue’s Minor Stellar Heavenly Cycle! If I were to rely on the Capital Heaven Divine Wraith flags alone, I do not have any confidence in my ability to break through his flying sword arts. Besides, every time the twelve Godfiends are manifested, I use a massive amount of lifeblood. Since I lack the confidence, I’ll let this pass. Let’s quickly search for the Numinous treasure! That bitch Bai Junyue has gone all limp seeing a handsome young lad and doesn’t even want to fight for it. She’s truly a crazy bitch.” Ji Lie clenched his teeth in anger.
If Bai Junyue had joined forces with him, he believed that they would have had a good chance.
“Since it’s gone, let it be. Let’s aim for the Numinous treasure now! The Numinous treasure, Tuṣita Divine Fire Talisman Amulet, is the most important treasure in this entire immortal abode,” said Ji Lie with a voice transmission.
“Yes.” Sixteenth Prince followed closely behind.
Regardless of Ji Lie’s sound logic, the both of them appeared somewhat pathetic as they retreated.
“They left just like that. It gave me a fright when he took out the Capital Heaven Divine Wraith flags,” said Yi Fenggu with a laugh.
“Let’s leave quickly too,” said Qin Yun immediately. “The next thing to appear might very well be the Numinous treasure.”
“Let’s go.”
The four hurriedly headed for the door.
All the rest of the treasures in the immortal abode added together would be greatly inferior to the Numinous treasure, Tuṣita Divine Fire Talisman Amulet. Numinous treasures could determine the amount of light an entire sacred land or race would receive from providence! However, there were many obstacles in refining and controlling powerful Numinous treasures. The requirements for Dharmic powers and realm were extremely high.
Back when Immortal Scenic Yang died, no one in the entire Scenic Mountain Sect’s sacred land could wield the Tuṣita Divine Fire Talisman Amulet.
And although the Scenic Mountain Sect held the six tokens, they did not bother to retrieve the Tuṣita Divine Fire Talisman Amulet as there was no suitable wielder. As for the other treasures? Back then, the Scenic Mountain Sect was flush with success and wielded immense power. The Scenic Mountain Sect did not think too much of the few reserves that Immortal Scenic Yang had amassed. They only treated it as a backup. Later on, the Scenic Mountain Sect was overrun, and this backup was needed to play its role.
“Oh?”
Qin Yun and company walked out and saw a blue sky peppered with white clouds. A yard filled with blooming flowers was right in front of them. There were also stone-paved paths in the yard.
The Bai sisters, the Zhu brothers, Ji Lie and Sixteenth Prince, together with Fang Yu, were already walking on the stone pavement and observing their surroundings carefully.
When he saw Qin Yun and company following them, Ji Lie grunted coldly but said nothing.
“Fellow Daoist Qin,” shouted Eighth Zhu rather warmly.
Bai Junyu also looked curiously at Qin Yun and Yi Xiao. She had always seen her sister being such a cold person, yet even she seemed to warm up to the young couple.
Qin Yun and company walked along a stone-paved road and looked around.
Just as the group was proceeding carefully through the yard—
“Whew!”
A golden beam of light flashed in midair before flying a distance away. And it seemed to hide a clear and crisp laughter.
“It’s the Numinous treasure.”
“Tuṣita Divine Fire Talisman Amulet!”
Instantly, everyone present was excited.
How could they not be?
Even most Connate Golden Core cultivators had no right to use a first-grade Dharma treasure! Yet above first-grade Dharma treasured were the transcendent grade, and above that still was the Numinous-grade.
“Chase!”
“Quickly chase after it.”
The Bai sisters, Ji Lie and Fang Yu, as well as Qin Yun and Hong Lingtong gave chase immediately!
As for the rest, they tried their best to follow behind at first, but their speeds were clearly much slower. Eighth Zhu and Lunatic Zhu, Yi Fenggu and Yi Xiao, and the Sixteenth Prince were in no hurry to chase after them.
“The transcendent-grade Golden Core Cauldron had the danger of the Earth fire. To obtain the more valuable Numinous treasure, the Tuṣita Divine Fire Talisman Amulet, there will probably be even greater danger.” Eighth Zhu shook his head. “Even if we lucked out and got our hands on it, Ji Lie and Fairy Bai would likely attack and snatch it from us. We aren’t Qin Yun. We won’t be able to fight them.”
“Yea,” Lunatic Zhu nodded. “Let’s not vie for it.”
“Yi Xiao, we should be wary. If we find a way out, we should leave the immortal abode,” said Yi Fenggu. “What’s left are things we have no chance of vying for.”
Yi Xiao nodded, “Alright, Second Uncle.”
Sixteenth Prince also stayed behind and did not follow. Vying for a Numinous treasure was an act of great danger. He did not dare be involved in it. Ji Lie with Fang Yu was enough. If he joined in, he would only make things worse.
The five continued their leisurely pace as they walked carefully within the yard.
“Oh?”
Yi Fenggu saw a boulder not far away. With a frown, he could not help but head for it due to his understanding of array formations.
Eighth Zhu, Lunatic Zhu, Sixteenth Prince, and company looked over curiously.
“That boulder.” Eighth Zhu had his doubts as he found something amiss.
“Second Uncle,” Yi Xiao walked over. “What is it?”
Yi Fenggu seemed to be deep in thought as he pointed his finger, sending three beams out.
But at that moment, Eighth Zhu suddenly shouted, “Don’t move!”
The three beams struck the patterns on the boulder’s surface.
“Boom!” A white and blurry blast enveloped the area. Forces skimmed past Yi Fenggu, who had been standing beside the boulder. With a drastic change in expression, he instantly triggered his life-preservation artifact. Layers of ice-blue ripples appeared around him but, with a grinding sound, the impact of the blast tore through the ripples directly. Yi Fenggu frantically tried to charge backward.
But the immense blast was too powerful. He seemed to be stuck in a vortex with no way of escaping.
In just a few seconds, the ripples that protected his body were worn away. Under the fury of the white blurry blast, his body was instantly ground to dust.
“Second Uncle!” Yi Xiao also activated her life-preserving treasure. Similarly, it was bestowed by Patriarch Yi. Ice-blue ripples began to emanate around her. Yi Fenggu had been standing where the strength of the array formation was at its most potent. Yi Xiao was in a slightly better position but the blast continued bearing down on her, mercilessly eating away at the ice-blue ripples that surrounded her.
Everything around her was a blur. As the blast turned more tempestuous, Yi Xiao could only see thirty feet around her, and nothing else.
“I need to get out.” Yi Xiao charged backward.
But the immense blast was like a gigantic tidal wave. It engulfed her and dragged her into the vortex at the middle of the blast.
The ice-blue ripples over her body were constantly being worn away.
“Second Uncle is dead. Am I going to die too?” At that moment, Yi Xiao looked in a particular direction. It was in the direction where Qin Yun had headed in pursuit of the Tuṣita Divine Fire Talisman Amulet.
“Qin Yun… I really do not want to die. Really.”
Two streams of tears rolled down Yi Xiao’s face.
At that moment, she was only thinking of Qin Yun!
She had long given up on her father. Her mother had abandoned her before her first memory. Only Qin Yun held a place in her heart! He was the most important person in her life.
“Qin Yun, don’t forget me.” Yi Xiao saw the ice-blue ripples being rapidly thinned by the blast and knew that death was approaching.
…
Yi Fenggu had triggered an array formation, causing it to send out a blast. With Yi Fenggu dead, Yi Xiao had been pulled into the depths of the array formation.
Meanwhile, beyond the swath of white.
“Dodge!” Eighth Zhu was the fastest to react as he flew backward. Sixteenth Prince was still dozens of feet away and so was safe when the blurry white blast came surging.
Lunatic Zhu was slightly slower and was caught up in the blast.
Chi! Chi! Chi!
Lunatic Zhu frantically retreated while furiously striking his palms forward. Boom! A mighty aura struck the blurry white blast.
“Ah!”
Lunatic Zhu barely retreated but when he looked at his arms, both his palms were already gone.
“Grow! Grow! Grow!” From his wrist, flesh and bone began to rapidly grow at a discernible rate.
“It will probably take about an hour to fully grow them back,” Lunatic Zhu muttered.
“What array formation is this? Why is it so ruthless? It didn’t show a hint of mercy.” Eighth Zhu stood beside Lunatic Zhu with an ugly expression.
“Miss Yi Xiao.” Sixteenth Prince lashed out with his whip, sending it straight into the blurry white blast. However, the whip was unable to travel within the blast. It flailed around as though it was trapped in a huge vortex while the energy constantly disintegrated it.
Sixteenth Prince retracted his whip immediately but half the whip was already gone.
“Even a fifth-grade Dharma treasure can’t withstand it?” Sixteenth Prince was astounded.
…
Qin Yun, Hong Lingtong, and company pursued the Tuṣita Divine Fire Talisman Amulet but it had transformed into a golden beam of light. It flew very fast and, in a blink of an eye, it had suddenly vanished.
Just as the group started their search anew, they sensed a violent fluctuation coming from behind accompanied by a rumbling boom.
“What happened?” Qin Yun was alarmed. He took a glance at Ji Lie who wasn’t far away from him. With Ji Lie here, it was unlikely anyone would attack Yi Xiao and company.
“Let’s go back and take a look quickly.” Qin Yun could not feel at ease as he immediately rushed back with Hong Lingtong.
“Why is there an array formation fluctuation? Could there be a treasure over there?” Ji Lie also rushed back.
The Bai sisters did the same.
Everyone rushed back.
Just as he arrived, Qin Yun saw the massive white blurry array formation. There was a swath of blurry white forces surging within the array formation and one could barely see twenty to thirty feet in with one’s naked eyes. Standing by the side, Lunatic Zhu’s hands were amputated and slowly growing back. Sixteenth Prince held a broken whip while in a daze. Eighth Zhu also wore a somewhat ugly expression.
“Where’s Yi Xiao?” Qin Yun could not help but turn anxious as he asked immediately.
Sixteenth Prince, who was still in a daze, could only point towards the white misty array formation.
