Page 29Angeline tossed and turned in her bed. She mumbled and often would whimper as if she were afraid. Johnnie stood outside her door listening. He knew that she was having a nightmare, but for now, he let it go. When she yelled out, he opened the door just to make sure she was okay. He knew better than to wake her, she might see something useful, as she had picked up on things before in the past through her dreams. It just depended on her connection to the persons involved.
“Run, run!” she whimpered. Then, she let out a blood-curdling scream. One that was almost loud enough to wake the neighbors.
Johnnie went to her bedside. He took her in his arms and rocked her gently back and forth. He talked to her in a quiet soothing voice, telling her it was alright now, that it was over. “I’ve got you now, it is all okay.”
She began to cry and then she wrapped her arms around him tightly. “It was awful. She was standing there talking to him and then, then he,” She continued to cry. It was such a pitiful thing to see her like this. He hated this for her!
