Roy felt intense compassion for Sara and understood why she was so scared to reveal her dark secrets. "Sara, I care a great deal for you. There isn't anything that you've told me that would make me feel any different. I'm the one who doesn't deserve someone like you."

"Oh Roy, there's more. I became pregnant, after the twins, well… after they hurt me. I saw how disgusting those boys were, and when I found out I was carrying their child, I wanted to cut the baby out of my stomach. The thought, of me giving birth to a monster like the Cready twins, was overwhelming."

Surprised, Roy asked, "What happened to the child?"

"Thank God, but I miscarried several months later. The thing inside me didn't even look human Roy. It was awful with its spine exposed and the face was horribly distorted. I rode out into the desert a few miles from here and buried it in the sand. For weeks, I was sick to my stomach and thought I might die, but Abe took good care of me and nursed me back to health. I love my boys Roy. I think it is my love for them that kept me from giving up on life."

Roy squeezed Sara tightly and gently kissed her forehead again. The two sat rocking slowly and absorbing what each person had just shared. They were linked in so many ways and while Roy continued to rock Sara in his arms he contemplated these thoughts for a long time. The personal disclosures cemented Roy and Sara's relationship. Roy was convinced that he and Sara could conquer anything and that together; they were a force to be reckoned with. Instead of feeling weaker for exposing their faults and failures to each other, Roy and Sara gained extraordinary strength.

"I think I love you, Sara."

She smiled up at Roy. "Oh, and I know I'm falling in love with you."

They cherished each other by firmly embracing and sharing kisses.
