Pet King
Page 767The whole incident started because of a misunderstanding and it only worsened because the woman was very protective when it involved her son. So, when she left with her son, the whole incident ended.
Those watching the show had also dispersed, going off to their own homes to look for their own mothers. They would probably take the incident as one of the things they talked about over a meal, then they would boast about how Zian had flipped the whole situation over with his sharp eyes…
Having escaped from death, Jiang Feifei walked over excitedly. But just as she was about to express her gratitude, Zian sternly reprimanded her. “Even if this incident stemmed from a misunderstanding, the root of this incident was still a problem on your end. This time you were lucky to have picked up an Oliva Emicator, but what if you were to pick up a Nussatella Cone next time? Wouldn’t you be causing harm to both yourself and others?”
Jiang Feifei was at a loss for words. She hung her head in shame and said, “You’re right, it’s my fault…”
Snowy and the netizens all sighed. A wild harvest really wasn’t for just anyone, or else the 70 different types of Cone Snails along China’s coastal areas would easily teach one how to get a fresh start—the true meaning of getting a fresh start was to reincarnate better for one’s next life.
Of course, the China coastal area was relatively safe as long as one didn’t go blind bird picking. The Australian beaches that were flooded with poisonous creatures, sharks, and crocodiles were the ones that would send chills down people’s spines!
Snowy noticed that Jiang Feifei was feeling down, so she comforted her and told her not to be so bothered by the incident, to be more careful when she was out on a wild harvest again, and to not pick up things that she did not recognize.
Jiang Feifei nodded her head and thanked both Snowy and Zhang Zian from the bottom of her heart. She was really grateful that the two of them were there, otherwise she’d be facing a lot more trouble. It wasn’t necessarily confirmed that the policemen would be able to differentiate an Oliva Emicator from a Nussatella Cone.
“Right, can I ask you a question?” Jiang Feifei cautiously asked Zhang Zian.
Zhang Zian threw the Oliva Emicator back into her plastic storage box, mixing in with the other sea creatures.
“What’s the problem?” Zian asked.
If Zhang Zian wasn’t so young, then she would definitely have thought that he was a professor from Binhai University’s School of Life Sciences. If that was the case, she would have to address him as teacher—of course that was also not impossible, since the number of young professors and doctors were increasing.
Zhang Zian smiled, but just when he had planned on faking the demeanor of a master, he heard Snowy expose him with much enthusiasm. “No, he runs a pet shop!”
“Runs a pet shop?” Jiang Feifei couldn’t figure it out for a moment, and she found it to be unbelievable. She thought that Snowy was joking. Do all pet shop owners hold such high standard of professionalism?
The netizens in the broadcast channel all echoed after her.
“Yes, you can address him as Manager Weak Bird. You’re welcome! My name’s Lei Feng!”
“Or for short, ‘Weak Bird.'”
“As the parrot says: say chicken and not bird, be civilized you and I!”
Jiang Feifei was not able to see the bullet screens flying across the broadcast channel, but the word ‘Pet Shop’ had her vaguely recall something.
Jiang Feifei’s roommate was an ordinary female university student: she had moderate academic performance, one or two past relationships, a crush on one or two boys, one or two relationship b-plans, one or two best friends, loved to watch a variety of programs, paid attention to entertainment news, and was a moderate idol chaser.
Two days earlier, her roommate suddenly said a sentence to her: “Aiya! Oh my god! Lin Feng lost to a dog! Even though he’s slightly old now and he may not look as good as he used to, I used to like him during my younger days! Time really is… just like a knife that leaves marks on your face!”
Her roommate then went on to say, “Such a big news and you’re not aware of it? The Berlin Film Festival had awarded the Best Male Lead Silver Bear Award to a dog, and Lin Feng declined all interview requests he had received ever since he came back. Those sad eyes of his… aye, it just stimulates my maternal instinct! Right, that dog is also from a pet shop here in our Binhai City. The shop owner brought it up on stage to receive the award.”
Having said that, her roommate showed her the picture on her phone.
Out of courtesy, Jiang Feifei glanced over at the picture without looking carefully and said a few words before she continued working on her graduation project.
“Aye, next time the phrase ‘acting ability is not as good as a dog’s’ won’t just be a derogatory term. 99% of actors are not as good as dogs…” her roommate continued to mutter before her attention was attracted by other entertainment scandals. Soon enough, her former idol was thrown to the back of her head.
Jiang Feifei had already forgotten about the news, but when she heard the word ‘pet shop,’ somehow the image from her roommate’s phone popped up into her head.
When she saw the picture, her focus was entirely on the dog and she had just given the man standing beside it a glance. But now that Zhang Zian was right in front of her, she realized that they seemed to be the same person…
“Could you be… the one from the Berlin Film Festival…?” she asked hesitantly.
Zhang Zian nodded his head. It was true that men were afraid of getting famous and pigs were afraid of getting fatter. Once you’re a celebrity, people would easily recognize you on the streets.
“No wonder…” Jiang Feifei finally understood why.
If just any pet shop owner had this kind of standard, China’s pet industry would have already rushed out of Asia and progressed towards the world…
Jiang Feifei then looked at Snowy. She was about to guess that Snowy was a network anchor because Snowy had been laughing and talking to her phone.
There were also a few girls in her school that did a live broadcasts or videos for a video website, but none of them seemed to be really famous.
“I’m Snowy, an outdoor network anchor,” Snowy said, giving a self-introduction. “My channel is ‘Eat, Drink, and Be Merry at Binhai City.’ You’re welcome to come over and play!”
“I’m really thankful to the both of you for today.” Jiang Feifei has already said her thanks multiple of times that day.
“It’s okay, you don’t have to thank me,” Snowy said with a smile. “You like to go on wild harvests, right? Can you introduce these creatures in the box to me and the audience? I honestly don’t even recognize a single one of them!”
“This…” Jiang Feifei shyly looked at Zhang Zian. Introducing them in front of an expert… wasn’t that just like teaching a fish how to swim?
Zhang Zian shrugged his shoulders. He motioned for her to relax and ignore his existence.
“Okay then… I’ll introduce them, but if there are any mistakes, please don’t hold back and correct me,” she said shyly.
“We can’t call it a correction. We’ll just be learning from each other and progressing together.” Zhang Zian glanced through the few storage boxes. “But there’s quite a variety of creatures that you collected here.”
“Yeah.” She also had her own doubts. “Usually, I am not able to get this much unless it’s just after a storm, but recently, it hasn’t been raining…”
