“Yes, there is a strong smoke odor that I now notice as well,” remarked the Town Marshall.
There was a knock on the door to the Marshall’s office.
“Town Marshall, the stables are on fire! All of the horses have gotten out of the stables, but the fire is raging out of control. We are gathering the men to bring water from the river to attempt to put out the fire,” said a man who had come to the door.
As the Marshall, Yousho and Kaori stepped out, each watched as a raging fire was burning the stables. The fire had been fed by the hay in the stables and was burning and seemed to be growing.
People were running in most directions, usually away from the fire. There were animals running out of control away from the fire. In addition to the sound of the raging fire, there were kids screaming and animals making all sorts of noises. It was not a pleasant situation.
“Maybe I should help gather more men. This fire could spread and burn the entire town of Mento down,” the Marshall said in horror.
Kaori then put her hand over the wrist of the Town Marshall and said softly as she looked to the west.
