Reine had expanded and taken over the area from a kingdom which no longer existed. The military were important to Reine as it allowed the king to extend the empire as he desired. Being aware of this was the main reason that the Hayshua council was considering the creation of a warrior group for the protection of Hayshua.

If any of the council members actually visited Reine, they would know that they had no hope of protecting themselves from the Reine king. The military power of this kingdom was astounding, and no one in this world was able to protect themselves once this king decided to conquer them. Conquest was for the purpose of receiving taxes or goods that were an acceptable substitute for taxes. One some occasions this king would conquer a village and that village would become part of the military of the Reine Kingdom. A conquered village would become a military outpost of Reine and would create military machinery or other goods for the military complex. In effect, the people of some conquered lands would become like slaves of the Reine Empire. Hayshua was about sixty miles south of Reine. Much of the previous conquest of Reine was of lands to the north and east of the city of Reine. The exception to this was the city of Machago which was south of Reine.
