Xue Ying swept his vision across the surroundings. His eyesight was extremely potent, allowing him to easily detect the spread of this layer world—it was roughly two trillion miles in diameter, and it had no entrance or exit other than the huge tunnel that he had just left!
The location he found himself in had a barren and smooth gravely ground, giving it an appearance quite similar to a desert. He was unable to detect any other living being inside.
'What? The ground is fully gravel?' Xue Ying's heart shook. He immediately descended, and as his feet landed on the gravely surface, they sunk in ever so slightly, leaving behind two footprints.
'As I fled on my life all along this Three Chieftains Sacred Mountains, the passages I traversed were all indestructible. How come I've encountered gravel all of a sudden?' Xue Ying looked down. 'Should I check out what's beneath all this gravel?'
'Hong~'
Xue Ying's surging luminous sun force diffused as it began to push out gravel underneath him.
An immeasurable amount of gravel was pushed aside, followed by a huge hole, more than a hundred million kilometers in diameter, appearing directly underneath Xue Ying. As the majestic and dazzling rays of white light spread, more and more gravel was being pushed out, and the hole was becoming deeper and deeper, pushing even more gravel over into the surroundings! Before long, the hole reached a depth of ten thousand kilometers. The layer of gravel all around had already begun to thicken.
"Yi?" Xue Ying discovered that the very round and smooth gravel pieces below him were no longer there; they were instead replaced with thick pieces of gravel, and even some irregular shapes that weren't even spheres.
"What's this?" Xue Ying waved his hand, and one of the thick pieces of gravel flew into it.
These thicker pieces were all ashen gray.
Xue Ying squeezed his fist, but even all the strength he had did not allow him to damage these the thick gravel pieces in any way; they were incomparably hard.
'Let's keep going.'
Xue Ying's majestuous luminous sun force continued penetrating downwards, and countless pieces of gravel were pushed aside. The deeper he went, the thicker the gravel became, and the stranger the shapes that appeared were. Xue Ying gradually began coming up with some conjectures, and once he reached about sixty thousand kilometers deep, his complexion suddenly changed. He encountered an incomparably large black bone. Although the diameter of the deep hole he had created was more than a hundred million kilometers wide, he could see no more than a small portion of this bone.
Xue Ying immediately controlled his luminous sun force to begin pulling on the bone.
'Hua la!'
The black bone was dragged into flight. It was now visible that its width was no less than 160 million kilometers, and that it had already begun breaking and fracturing. Furthermore, there were a large number of particles flowing on its surface. These particles were all ashen grey, and upon further inspection, they proved to be the afore-seen gravel from before.
'Could it be that this bone decomposed to form the immeasurable amount of gravel?' Xue Ying raised his head to look out towards this vast expanse of gravely ground. 'Is this boundless ground made of gravel all made up of decomposed bone?'
Xue Ying tried conveniently picking up this bone to bring inside his Eden treasure. This particular item had been obtained and refined upon destroying the Howling Devil Cult Leader's true body.
'I really can't take it? And why does it seem as if it has become one with the world?' Xue Ying shook his head, placing the bone back down. Once it reached the ground, the black bone sunk down with great speed. It was swiftly dragged to the very bottom by the formless energy.
Xue Ying looked back at the bottom of the deep hole he made, where an immeasurable amount of thick gravel had been pushed aside to clearly reveal the floor.
The black bone was now back at the bottom, and below it was a very tough and thick membrane, dark red in color.
"Break." Xue Ying tried attacking it.
A strand of his luminous sun force pierced into the membrane barely managing to pierce it up to a depth of about a finger. As Xue Ying withdrew his energy, the small crack which had just formed immediately healed.
...
Xue Ying speedily flew off to investigate other areas.
"In the depths of this gravel ground, there are indeed some remains in the middle of decomposing," Xue Ying softly said. "At the very bottom, there is a thick, dark red membrane, which I've only managed to penetrate up to a hundred meters deep even and even using the Scarlet Cloud Spear. On top of that, when I withdrew it, the thick membrane immediately healed."
"En."
There was some anxiety in Xue Ying's heart since the sovereigns of the Dark Abyss could arrive at any moment. He did not dare waste any more time.
'I should hide the Blood Demon Scripture first,' Xue Ying suddenly thought. He flipped over his hand to pick up a blood-colored book which gave off the feeling an endless ocean of blood might have, as well as a sinister bloody aura, and even an enticing formless energy. A more ordinary, weaker World Deity might simply be unable to resist its enticement. However, Xue Ying was relatively exceptional in terms of his willpower, so he managed to resist it.
He placed the first half of the original copy of the "Blood Demon Scripture" inside a storage treasure, then bound this treasure with another which helped isolate it from probing techniques, and then easily changed its appearance to look exactly like the material making up the dark red membrane.
"Break!" He furiously thrust forth his Scarlet Cloud Spear a hundred meters deep into the ground, then threw the disguised treasure down, all the way to the bottom of the crack which he had just split open. He then withdrew his spear, allowing the crack to heal.
"If you have the skill, you can go ahead and look for it." Xue Ying softly smiled.
He had entered the Three Chieftains Sacred Mountain so long ago, yet it was only now that he found a suitable place to hide the Blood Demon Scripture.
'Sou.'
Xue Ying continued to fly.
"Pa pa pa…" Raindrops suddenly began falling from the sky.
'It's starting to rain?' Xue Ying looked towards the sky with a tinge of shock. Indeed, the rain had just begun to fall, and the raindrops even seemed to be rapidly increasing in size.
Xue Ying immediately thought of the bones he had formerly discovered. The bones were indestructible, the surface showed many damaged pieces which formed the gravel. "Could this rainwater be the reason for the bones decomposing?"
"Hong, hong~" The rain was getting stronger and stronger. Despite only a breath's worth of time having passed since it had begun to fall, the rain already gave the feeling that the world was toppling over. Puddles were accumulating in the gravel which swiftly grew at a rate visible to the naked eye.
"Chi chi chi." The black armor covering Xue Ying's body also began to suffer even more damage. Fortunately, it was extremely hard and stable, so it could hold on for quite some time. Furthermore, Xue Ying was constantly sending out more energy to restore it.
'I've got to find somewhere to hide, and quickly.'
Xue Ying no longer flew, and immediately dove downwards.
He dove past the already layer of water which was already a few meters deep, then into the incomparably concentrated layer of gravel, then continued boring downwards for another sixty thousand kilometers before finally arriving at the thick, dark red membrane.
This was the deepest he could go, and the rainwater could not permeate all the way down here there.
"Break for me."
Xue Ying fully used his spear technique, furiously thrusting in.
At the same time, his entire body simultaneously dove inwards. Once he reached a hundred meters deep, he dove directly into the deepest part of the membrane. He felt the pressure of the surrounding dark red membrane, but his strength was sufficient to resist it. There, he continued to furiously thrust his spear, only to realize that it was much harder to go any deeper from here. After a furious assault that lasted quite some time, he was twenty or so meters deeper than before. He was unable to continue any deeper. After all, the lower he went, the tougher it became.
'This is good enough.' Xue Ying flipped his hand, taking out the Eden treasure left behind by the Howling Devil Cult Leader after his death. The Eden treasure immediately changed to take on an appearance that was similar to the material making up the thick dark red membrane.
"Sou."
Xue Ying disappeared without a trace, leaving behind only the extremely small disguised Eden treasure. The surrounding membrane then immediately closed up, wrapping all around it.
'Eden treasures are very proficient in isolating what's inside from probing techniques. It has already isolated an area of ten million kilometers. For someone to find me here, they would have to penetrate the whole interior of the membrane, which is no easy matter.' Xue Ying was rather confident since even he only managed to go this deep by choosing one area and furiously striking it.
Blasting a hole that was both deep and a full ten kilometers in range into this thick dark red membrane would be harder than making a crack smaller by a thousand or ten thousand times.
And even if someone were to blast a hole that was ten meters wide in one single strike, how long would it even take to conduct a carpet-style search over a ten million kilometers wide area?
On top of that, Xue Ying would never dimwittedly place his Eden treasure, so he left it at the very center of a vague area of the primordial chaos. The distance from the core of the isolated area was a full three million kilometers. Unfortunately for them, the sovereigns of the Dark Abyss had no way of knowing this.
...
Countless creatures lived in the inner world of the Cultivation Eden, all of them having their faith placed in the Howling Devil Cult Leader.
"Yes, master," the spirit artifact replied.
Xue Ying at once looked for a random field of grass, and then completely isolated it and the surrounding million kilometers, thus turning it into his person cultivation ground.
'It should not be so easy for the true god paragons to find me, but I have no way of knowing for sure. After all, their techniques are impossible for me to predict.' Xue Ying sat down cross-legged on the vast field. 'Let's see, then if I'll become a stage four World Deity first, or if they can find me before that!'
If he was found first, he could only accept his fate.
Back in the Crimson Rock Mountain world of the Xia Clan world.
Jing Qiu and Xue Ying were sitting together inside a restaurant, chatting idly.
"Xue Ying, there are more and more Abyss Sovereigns making their way to the Three Chieftains Sacred Mountain." Jing Qiu always seemed aware of all such external pieces of information, primarily because her father, Monarch Mo Xue, would receive information from all sorts of places. It was clear that the situation within the Three Chieftains Sacred Mountain was becoming tenser! The sovereigns of the Dark Abyss converging here were rapidly increasing in number, and everyone was starting to guess on just how long it would be before Dong Bo was captured or killed.
"Don't worry about them." Xue Ying grasped his wine cup, softly lifting it up to his mouth to take a sip, then got up. "Let's go."
"We're leaving?" Jing Qiu was stunned.
Both of them were still in the material world. Where could they even go?
"I've already readied everything to seal myself off. I won't exit seclusion before I become a stage four World Deity," Xue Ying said. "Should the avatar over in the Three Chieftains Sacred Mountain be captured, I can only blame my luck for being bad."
He had already done everything he could in his situation.
And now… he could only rely on chance!
Furthermore, this experience allowed Xue Ying understand one thing—if one lacked the necessary strength, adventuring was truly too tiresome. Even a stage four World Deity could suppress him in terms of their World Energy! And his realm wasn't even comparable to theirs! In truth, back at Lake Heart Island, he had already begun feeling somewhat weary, and he began to think of the fact that not every step he took was as beautiful as it should. However, he truly was unable to relax and cultivate leisurely until he became a stage four World Deity, and only then go out to save Eternal Wind. He had been too afraid that his senior brother Eternal Wind would not be able to keep holding on, which led to him rushing over to the Dark Abyss.
'I've already done everything I could.'
'I won't ever do this sort of strenuous trips again in the future. Before all else, I'll cultivate my way to becoming a stage four World Deity, calm and content.' Xue Ying's thoughts were clear—for the following years, he would enter proper seclusion. By the time he came out again, he would not be so easy to bully.
