Living With a Temperamental Adonis: 99 Proclamations of Love
Page 929When Song Qingchun woke up, it was already afternoon. Su Zhinian was already awake, but he stayed in bed and skipped work that day. They lazed in bed for a while before Song Qingchun got up to use the bathroom.
When she came out, Su Zhinian was sitting up in bed, leaning against the headboard. The earphone was attached to his phone, and from his conversation, Song Qingchun knew it was related to work.
Song Qingchun didn’t disturb Su Zhinian. She walked to his side to hold his hand and inform him that she was going down to prepare some food. After Su Zhinian nodded, she turned to leave.
Her stomach was growling from skipping breakfast. Song Qingchun prepared two bowls of noddle soup. She was about to head upstairs to call Su Zhinian when the doorbell rang. Song Qingchun stopped and turned towards the front entrance.
Through the camera, Song Qingchun saw a young man holding a large box in his hands. It was the deliveryman. Her previous incident with the deliveryman had traumatized Song Qingchun. She had never accepted a delivery in person after that anymore, so like usual, she had the young man put the box on the floor. She only opened the door and retrieved the box after the young man had left.
The box was carefully wrapped. The brand name LAMER told Song Qingchun this was probably the package of make-up products she ordered off the internet a few days ago. The excited girl didn’t go up the stairs to get Su Zhinian but turned her face up to yell up the stairs, “Time for lunch.”
Then she placed the box on the coffee table and bounded happily into the kitchen to grab a pair of scissors. The package was wrapped in multiple layers. Song Qingchun removed the paper wrappings of the delivery company to take out the green exquisite box that the LAMER brand was famous for.
A bow was standing on top. Song Qingchun removed the wax seal and unwrapped the bow. Then she reached out to open the box…
…
After hanging up, Su Zhinian pulled off the cover to head into the bathroom. While he was brushing his teeth, he heard the doorbell. He was about to head downstairs when he heard Song Qingchun ask the deliveryman to put the stuff by the door.
Su Zhinian gargled and rinsed his mouth. When he was cleaning his face, he heard Song Qingchun yell, “Time for lunch.”
That was followed by the sound of her opening the delivery along with the rustle of paper.
After turning off the faucet, Su Zhinian could hear clearer. Other than the sound of Song Qingchun’s motions, there was a slithering sound. The sound was soft, and it came from within his bungalow. It sounded sinister and caused the hair on his arms to rise.
Su Zhinian stopped moving to focus on the sound as his brows furrowed. Eventually, he managed to confirm where the sound came from.
His heart was gripped with terror as he raced out of the bathroom and bedroom. As he raced down the stairs, he screamed at Song Qingchun, “Don’t move!”
Song Qingchun, who was in the middle of opening the box, was startled by Su Zhinian’s sudden scream. She turned around with confusion. Before she could ask why, Su Zhinian had already jumped down the stairs to stand before her.
