Living With a Temperamental Adonis: 99 Proclamations of Love
Page 701“You’ve just woken up. We’ll come back later after we finish the body check, okay?”
When Cheng Qingchong heard Qin Yinan, she also joined in. “The doctor said that CEO Su is currently safe; he’s just unconscious. Miss Song, you’d better listen to Mr. Qin and go for your body check.”
Song Qingchun shook her head and was about to say that she was fine when Auntie Su, who sat on the bench, said, “They’re right, Qingchun. You need to confirm with the doctors that you’re really alright. After all, you did fall from such a great height. Ah Nian is already in such condition; we can’t let anything happen to you, too.”
Song Qingchun swallowed the words that had reached her lips back down her throat. She nodded at Auntie Su and returned to her room, supported by Qin Yinan.
…
Other than general fatigue, there was nothing wrong with Song Qingchun’s body. After the inspection, she ignored the nurse’s advice to rest and rushed to Su Zhinian’s room to accompany Auntie Su. Auntie Su was in her old age already, and she was not primed to stay throughout the night. Song Qingchun knew she would not be able to get any sleep when her son’s life was hanging in the balance, but she still offered Auntie Su her bed to rest.
Since Cheng Qingchong had to work the next morning, Song Qingchun told her to leave by 4 am.
Auntie Su went down for a rest at around 3 am and woke up at 5 am. Qin Yinan went to buy some breakfast. Even though neither of them had an appetite, they still forced themselves to eat something.
At 6 am, the doctor came to do a check-up on Su Zhinian. He reported that the patient was stabilizing, and the operation could be performed on time that night. He even ordered them to go home to take a shower and bring along their clothes while the patient was resting.
When Auntie Su returned to the hospital, the caretaker came along with a bag of clothes.
Song Qingchun and Su Zhinian had both been rushed to the hospital, and Song Qingchun knew the password to his bungalow, so when she went home to get her clothes, she took a detour to his place to grab a change of clothes for him.
Qin Yinan dropped Song Qingchun at the Song family residence and then left. Song Qingchun grabbed a handful of toiletries and underwear before driving over to Su Zhinian’s bungalow.
She had spent a hundred days at his place, so she was familiar with his living habits. She dashed upstairs and strode into the closet in his bedroom. She grabbed two casual outfits and two sets of cotton pajamas before pulling open the drawers to look for his socks and underwear.
There was quite a number of drawers in Su Zhinian’s closet. Song Qingchun found the socks but could not locate his underwear. She pulled open the drawer one by one, and when she pulled open the third last drawer, among the drawer-full of paraphernalia, Song Qingchun’s gaze settled instantly on a clear plastic bag. The bag was holding a handful of buttons.
The buttons were familiar to her eyes, like she had seen them somewhere before—they were golden in color.
After a pause, Song Qingchun reached out to grab the bag. She counted the buttons in it; there were eleven buttons in total.
As she counted, the sense of familiarity heightened. Her brows furrowed deeply trying to place it. When she raised her head in contemplation, her eyes landed on the red line around her neck. Then something dawned on her as she raised her hands to pull the red line quickly out from under her sweater.
