Kill Fest
Page 80"Unless the assassin didn't fire their weapon but merely choked them out or bashed in their head with some object to keep down the noise level," she said turning and looking at her partner beside her.
"Maybe, or the assailant used a silencer," he said turning his head in her direction. "Do you have yours by the way?"
"Don't you know me by now? It's like a rubber…..better to have one than not," she said grinning.
"I hear that," Stryker said as he took note of the lack of mayhem that was now going on across the way. "I don't think it's what we thought over there. It seemed to die down a little too fast if someone was murdered I would think," he mumbled.
"Stryker, this is New York, murder is a way of life here, one dead guy is just something else to step over when running for the train."
"Oh, you're funny," he said just before spotting a transit cop walking their way. Taking his left hand, he took hold of Aurora by her right wrist and slightly turned the young woman into him. "Be cool, don't do anything dumb," he told her as she matched his focal point and turned deeper into his embrace. Running both of her hands up his arm in what appeared to be a loving gesture as she drew in closer. As the cop walked past, she fixed all of her attention upon her companion with tender emotional eyes giving the illusion that they were nothing more than a young couple in love.
"Good day." the cop said as he stepped by as Aurora only smiled and Stryker nodded. Once the agent felt their cover was safe, he spoke up much to Aurora's dismay and asked a question of the attending platform officer.
"Pardon me officer, what happened over there?" Stryker inquired and nodded his head in the direction of the earlier commotion. With his female cohort beside him gripping his arm, digging her short nails into his jacket sleeve, displaying her repugnance for his actions, he awaited the cops reply.
"Oh. that was just some old man that collapsed a few platforms over, nothing to be worried about. We have help working on him now," the officer told the man he was passing before continuing on his platform beat.
"Do you have to dig your fingers into my arm so hard…..damn it, watch the leather will you," Stryker belted out as he wrenched away from his companion with a thrust.
"What the hell is wrong with you, talking to the cop?"
"How else are we going to find out what happened over there. I figured he was carrying a radio, he had to know what was up over there."
