Kill Fest
Page 121Aurora was awakened by a bump in the road as she opened her eyes in a somewhat confused state. Looking out the side window, she wondered where they were. The streets, the sheer flatness of the countryside and the layout of the roadway reminded her of back home in Florida only vacant of palm trees.
"Where the hell are we? This don't look like New York."
"It's Long Island," the driver said.
"Why are we in Long Island of all places?"
"I know a guy we need to see."
"About what, we need to take out Crow and The Reaper….not go on some damn joy ride to see old friends."
"If we are going to stop them, we need to know who the source is."
"You're really going after Fat Daddy aren't you?"
"You're going to fuck it up for us all to win this you know," she said folding her arms in a complacent manner.
"Sorry, it's my mission."
"Well, it's not mine Stryker! I'm in this to win the cash prize."
"Yeah but to what end Aurora, killing the others and then what."
"I win!"
"There is still me in the game, would you kill me?"
"You know I can't do that."
"It's so easy for you ain't it Stryker. Do as The Man tells you too and that's it," she said holding her gaze away from him in an almost protest fashion.
"Sorry, I have a job to do here."
"And what about me, I don't have a job here. I'm in it for the competition, the money and the bragging rights of World's Best Assassin," she said with a dirty grin. "I'm not an agent anymore remember Stryker. I have not been a government girl for over two years now. Why the hell do you even want me part of this anyway?"
"I don't know…..maybe I miss your crazy ass."
"My crazy ass is not with the CIA anymore."
"You know they would take you back, you were their best female operative."
"They just liked the way I murdered for them and asked no questions until….."
"I don't want to talk about that."
"You never want to talk about that."
"That's right."
"Aurora that was not your fault…..that child……."
"I don't want to talk about it okay!" she shouted cutting him off in mid-sentence.
