Honeysuckles of the South

"Thanks honey. You have a fantastic smile. It makes one want to melt." Vedella commented.

"Glad you like it little lady. The gleam of it caught the right little lady." Vance remarked.

"Honey, I know you're probably used to saying little lady out of habit, but my name is Vedella. Once in a while could you say my name? I think you are a charming man." Vedella quipped and asked.

"Vedella, Vedella. See I have it now. I don't want to get off on the wrong foot with you. I love southern girls. Texas is not in the North you know.

I have a ranch on many acres of land. My parents live on the ranch in their own quarters. I'm very close to them and will do anything for them." Vance replied seriously.

"I'm an only child and I'm also very close to my parents. I'm in New York this weekend because of my friend Georgianna. She sings in this nightclub twice a month." Vedella replied.

"I caught the show. She's terrific! I knew I came to the club tonight for a special reason. I met the woman of my dreams." Vance remarked.

"So I'm the woman of your dreams, ugh. Vance honey, you're very charming. I guess if I had stayed away you would still be dreaming." What will your dreams be about now" Vedella asked.

"When I will see you again." Vance answered quickly.

Vedella blushed. It's quite hard to lighten her heart for a man. She had always been competitive with them. She always played the business game, but never any serious attachments. But to her Vance was a different story.

"I think it's time for me to get some sleep. I promised my friends I would meet them for breakfast. Can I get the number to your brother home? Vedella asked.

"Little lady, that's my line. But, if you insist, here it is on this paper napkin. Don't throw it away. Vance replied.

"I will not lose it." Vedella stated.

Vance escorted Vedella outside to catch a cab to the hotel.

"Until we meet again, dear Vedella." Vance replied.

He lightly brushed his lips to Vedella lips.

"Goodnight or is it morning? Vedella asked.

Vance closed the cab door and watched it until it disappeared out of sight.

Inside the cab Vedella removed her handkerchief from her purse to dab the perspiration on her cheeks. Vedella was running. She wanted to stay longer, but her heart was pounding too fast. She didn't want Vance see her lose her composure.
