“I, ... I hardly know you.” came her soft answer.

He stopped what he was doing and sat up and stared at her. He was incredulous. “How can you say such a thing? I do not understand you. You have been living in my house for over two months. How well did you know David before you moved into his house? How long did you know him before you slept with him?” His tone was accusatory.

Sara grabbed her discarded robe and pulled it on as she got up from the bed. How dare he! “That is none of your business. Besides, the situations are not even close. If you remember correctly, I did not choose to come here. I chose to live with David after we got to know each other first,” she said defiantly as she stood next to the bed, clutching the robe around her.

“And just how did you get to know David?” demanded Rashid.

“By dating. We went out on dates. And we both knew, more or less where we were headed when we first met.”

He held her flashing cobalt blue eyes to his own by force of will alone and said, “Can you stand there and tell me that we didn’t know EXACTLY where we were headed when we first met.”

Sara felt that same intensity from him now, as she did then, and she had to admit her heart had quickened as she had felt, ... yes, she had felt desire. She had repressed that desire until last night. But that wasn’t what she meant. How could she make him understand? In all their time together, she had learned more about him from Yasmine, who’s opinion was suspect since she adored him so much, than from himself. He was still very much a mystery to her.

He waited patiently for her answer, and he could barely hear her when she did.

“No.” came her soft reply.

Triumph flickered over his face for an instant then he rolled over to retrieve his clothes from the floor. He pulled on his pants and slipped on his shirt as he walked around the bed towards her.

“So you see, my love, you know me better than you think.” He smiled as he approached her, then stopped, barely an inch from touching her. She tilted her head up to meet his gaze and relaxed her defiant stance. Her arms dropped to her sides, ignoring the robe as it fell open. He pressed his body against hers, and felt her nipples harden against his bare chest.
