Dark Moon Rising

Crouching low, he listened and sniffed. An eerie graveyard-like silence greeted him. His pale, cold skin, shone in stark similarity to the cold lifeless moon overhead.

My observation was inaccurate, he thought, as he faced yet another cliff. Strolling forward on the small plateau, he studied the odd glass and steel structure in front of him. Its shape resembling an upside-down Mayan pyramid.

As he proceeded, more and more detail emerged. The design incorporated nature as its main feature. Three levels divided the house. A glass-staircase ascended through the centre.

The bottom consisted of one room only, a study and library combination. The second level hosted a gym, kitchen, dining-, theatre-, sitting- and ballroom area. While the six bedrooms on the third-floor resembled penthouse suites.

Two hearts beat in rhythm. With each beat, the sound resonated through the structure. Must be the twins Joseph is so fond of, he thought. According to Arianna, Xander’s the one who knows about our secret existence.

Taking a deep breath, every fibre in his body sprang to life and he froze. What’s that smell? Irresistible, erotic, a bit seductive. The scent of human blood mixed with something exotic called to him, making his stomach churn.
