You might be small, but you are more than capable of protecting us should we go out. Still, father insists we have an extra guard to accompany us. Why? Something was up. I bet it has to do with this moon thing.

“Did he say anything about them?” she probed again.

“No, he complained of a headache and went to bed.” Diane saw the disappointment and rejection on her charge’s face. “Don’t take it personally; he is going through a rough time.”

“I know Di, but...” Sighing, her head slumped. “He’s my twin...”

Putting her hand on Alex’s shoulder she encouraged, “Things will get better, I promise.”

She patted her hand. “I hope so.” Taking the direction of her bedroom she continued alone. Half way she stopped, then glanced back. Her bodyguard still stood in the same spot. “Go on, he is waiting for you.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes.” Smiling, she urged once more. “Go. He’ll blame me if I keep you.”

Alex watched Diane disappear down the corridor before continuing at a snail’s-pace. By the time, she reached her room, she was utterly depressed.

“May tomorrow never come,” she exclaimed frustrated.
