Dantalion of the Goetia: The Summoning

Everyone in the room sensed him coming. Rowan tightened his claws on the medallion around his neck, staring oddly at Levi.

"Something's wrong…I feel it. What the hell is going on?"

"Master Rowan, remember we spoke of Dantalion's supernal powers? I'm afraid an internal battle of good versus evil wages within. He tries to fight it, but his demonic powers have betrayed him… and his ability as Guardian.

Specks of firelight glistened off the black orbs of Dantalion's eyes like mirrors. If eyes are the windows to your soul, Dantalion's burned desire. Desire to shed his false beauty…. his radiance of supernal perfection. Desire to taste lust and uncontrolled passion… the demonic instincts never truly left him. The scent of pine and roses made him think of me, and thoughts of me made him think of her.

The demons grew restless within the chamber, shifting their positions. Erin and Lucia moved closer toward Druitte and Sitri, backing away from the hearth and up against the stone wall of Dantalion's chamber.

"What should we do? Erin whispered to Sitri.

"Nothing. Stay perfectly calm. I believe only your friend Laurel holds the power to call upon the Guardian Angel… a sacred invocation of prayer that has not been honored here."

"What? Why didn't Rowan think of this before he tested the powers of God?" Erin's eyes caught Lucia's in a panic.

"We believe he has… he holds the medallion and Dantalion's thirty six legions on his side. Your friend is prisoner to the first heaven, remember? She could not have called upon him. Master Rowan must turn Dantalion's supernal powers against his true demonic ones."

Levi leaned closer to Rowan. "I'm afraid I was mistaken Master Rowan. I do not believe Lord Dantalion's preference for angelic powers were strong enough to overpower his demonic ones. His internal battle continues to wage war on his conscience."

"Yea… I was counting on it. This way, at least we've got him back on our side… ya know, sort of like a demonic wager. Laurel will wait for Dantalion to come for her… when he does, he'll have us along with him."

Dantalion shape shifted into his true demonic form, amber-yellow eyes once again peering at his legions of demons across the room. His razor sharp claws protruded out from a silver ring of armor covering one hand, the same one he wore the night at The Tomb.

Levi came toward him, unsure what reaction he would receive from his betrayed friend. "My Lord, welcome home."
