Dantalion of the Goetia: Taste the Obsession of a Demon
Page 86"Count Druitte!" Dantalion yelled, hoping he was still alive.
"My Lord, you spared the army," Druitte's voice carried across the cavern.
"Where is Rowan?" Dantalion screamed back.
"I know not, the armies are consumed by temptation, my Lord. They are not able to resist."
Half Dantalion's armies were still empowered by Satan's shape shifters and souls, lured by lust.
"That is the very sin that brings demons and men to defeat," Dantalion lamented.
Dantalion and Count Druitte re-grouped, forming a search of Rowan. They found him, bleeding, but still alive.
"The shape shifter, I, thought - she was…" his voice close to gone.
"You thought it was Laurel. Remember, you are dealing with powers stronger than your own,." Dantalion's wave of healing restored Rowan once again. "Next time, I leave you to die. We're losing time!"
Accustomed to shape shifting and Satan's demonic possession, Dantalion used his powers of restraint to focus on his purpose. His mind overwhelmed with thoughts, he became reminiscent of the true nature of his curse. He remembered what he was told, that it was only lust demons felt, and nothing more. He knew it to be true, his haunting the souls of women, becoming one with them, was no different than what desires were tempting him right now.
But he did show restraint, holding only to his bond with me, and no other. A human trait he learned from a mortal girl. He could never allow himself to serve under Satan's infernal hierarchy, or allow summoning of the four Great Kings of Hell. He was bred as demon but born unto guardian.
The four winged demons guarding Satan's eternal fires joined in the debauchery, moving closer to the crystal tomb. My soul, imprisoned within Lilith's body, no longer felt the longing for Dantalion as I did before, only the desire of Lilith to join them. The demons led her out of the tomb and with her, my soul. They laid me down before Satan's feet, wine pouring down the face of the cavern behind him. His spirits of the undead and shape shifters gathered around us, chanting. Satan rose, clawed fingernails to the sky, addressing his dominion: "My children…we have waited for two ages for the coming of my brother, Dantalion of the Goetia! He has been evoked by the soul that lies at my feet. Now we shall witness their union of the flesh, before us, and with us, as one!"
Dantalion's armies restrained themselves long enough to pull away from the shape shifters, unleashing their powers. Druitte and his armies' spiritual weapons tried to send a vanquishing barrier around Satan and his demons of the undead. Satan's barrier of crimson flames diminished their attack.
