Dantalion of the Goetia: Taste the Obsession of a Demon

Page 78

The armies knew Dantalion played a crucial role as both angel and demon, and swearing their allegiance to him, they were all prepared to seek out my soul. Half the army changed guard, and they were curious about Rowan and his offer of allegiance to Dantalion. One half-human, half-demon with dark eyes like Rowan, cornered him.

"What say you, the one who bears the seal of our legion. What powers have you mastered?"

Rowan knew he was close to being devoured..

Dantalion spoke on his behalf, "He hath the powers of divine magick. He will serve us well when we get closer to the girl," Dantalion grabbed Rowan's arm, raising up the seal for the others to see. "This is unlike any demonic sigil." The demons trusted in Dantalion, and Rowan's seal of divine magick was respected equally to their own.

Rowan approached Dantalion, impressed by his fall from grace and his rise to demonic power. He saw why my obsession with him was something he could never control.

"I know, sure as we stand before one another, she said you were like an elixir that pulses through her veins. She loves only you," Rowan confided to Dantalion.

"I know you love her. So do I. I never asked for this to happen," Dantalion assured Rowan.

"It was not by your doing, I know. But, you enticed her, just like Lilith enticed you. And so, Laurel will be brought down as well," Rowan argued.

"It was my demonic nature to entice. I am an 'Incubus'!" Dantalion reminded him, angrily.

"So you claim you love her, does she even know it? If lust is the only emotion you feel, how can you even know the difference?"

Dantalion looked hurt. "I do not only feel lust, not with her. I have learned to control my demonic powers. I can overcome it for her."

"I hope you're right, her life is ending because of it," Rowan complained.

Dantalion could see the look of desperation on Rowan's face. Each of them had lost something of their physical being , transformed into something un-human.

"When you find her, give her this," Rowan placed a moonstone in Dantalion's hands.

"Thy knowest that all but a translucent soul exists of Laurel now?"

"Yes, I know what she has become," Rowan answered. "The stone possesses magick, even here where the barrier diminishes our powers. It can lead you to where Satan keeps her soul."

"I need to find another passage beyond the barrier. We will split up."
