Broken Promises
Page 33He opened the truck door and gently put me down in the seat. I leaned back, closing my eyes as his hand slipped into my panties. I spread my legs in anticipation of his touch.
He slipped one finger in and moaned. “Fuck. You’re so wet, Liza.”
I bucked my hips, anxious for more. His face was so close to mine that I could feel his hot breath as he looked into my eyes.
“Walker. People…might…see,” I said, trying to keep my thoughts clear. Something about his touch made brain turn to mush. I was completely at his mercy.
“We’re parked far enough away from people. Just let me make you come, Liza.”
Before I could say anything else, he slipped in another finger and pressed his thumb against my clit. He leaned down and kissed me, capturing my moans. It didn’t take long before I was gyrating against his fingers, desperate for more.
Walker pulled his lips away and said, “I feel your pussy tightening on my fingers.”
That’s when it hit. “Oh God, I’m coming!” I cried as he slammed his lips to mine.
Walker talking to me that way threw me over the edge. I hadn’t wanted to come too fast—I was trying like hell to hold it off. But his dirty talk was more than I could handle.
After I finally came down, I opened my eyes, met Walker’s gaze and said, “I think this is turning out to be the best date ever.”
He smiled and winked as he pulled my seat belt on and kissed the tip of my nose.
LIZA WALKED OUT of the bathroom dressed in a beautiful blue sundress that hugged her figure in all the right places. I loved her body. She had the perfect amount of curves. I looked down and smiled when I saw her cowboy boots. “You in the mood for dancing?”
She smiled and her eyes lit up. Just like I remembered. Liza loved dancing and I was going to make sure it was one of our stops tonight.
I kissed her lips as I spoke against them. “Do you know how much I love you, Liza?”
She closed her eyes and whispered, “Yes. Do you know how much I love you?” Her eyes opened and she searched my face.
“Yes,” I said, placing my hand on her neck and pulling her closer to me, deepening our kiss.
It didn’t take long for us to get lost in each other…again. I wondered how long this phase would last. I didn’t want to go back to the ranch and face my fears. I wanted to stay lost in my love with Liza.
She pulled back and said, “I’m starved.”
“I can be undressed in thirty seconds,” I said, wiggling my eyebrows.
She laughed and hit me on the shoulder. “I’m hungry for food!”
I grabbed her hand and pulled her toward the door, picking up my keys as I passed by the table. “Then food it is, my love.”
LIZA TALKED MY ear off about her new job as we walked into Lambert’s Barbecue. She was so excited about being a teacher; my heart soared for her.
“Would you like to sit in or outside?” the hostess asked.
“Is there a band playing tonight?” I asked.
The hostess gave me a flirtatious once-over. She had a pixie cut with a streak of red running down the side. Her eyes narrowed a bit before she smiled and winked.
We sat at a corner booth, tucked away just like the hostess said. I took Liza’s hand and was about to say something when a perky blonde came over. She gave me a big smile, then straightened up. It wasn’t lost on me that she pushed her chest out just a bit.
“Good evening y’all. What can I start you off with?”
I smiled politely before turning to Liza. She had a shocked look on her face—I’m sure it was because our waitress was running her tongue along her teeth, staring at me.
“Baby, have you been here before?” I asked Liza. She shook her head and finally pulled her eyes from the waitress, making a face. I couldn’t help but chuckle. I turned back to the waitress and said, “We’ll take two Ruby Red Mules, please.”
The waitress bit her lip and winked. “A Ruby Red Mule, got it.”
“Two Ruby Red Mule’s,” I said, pointing to Liza.
Liza waved her fingers at the waitress.
“Right,” the waitress said. “Would you like any appetizers? Maybe some crispy wild boar ribs, or achiote-seared chickpeas?”
Smiling, I said, “How about we start with some spicy deviled eggs?”
She winked at me…again. “I’ll get that order in right now.” She spun around and headed off toward the bar.
Liza made another face and said, “What the hell kind of barbecue place is this? Wild boar ribs? Seared chickpeas? This has to be a place Jessica liked to come to.”
I shook my head. “Nope. My dad and your dad actually brought me here about a month back.”
“Yep. Your dad. He got the half local chicken and said it was really good.”
She closed the menu and said, “Then that’s what I’m getting because this country girl doesn’t even know what half the shit on this menu is.”
LIZA PLACED HER napkin on her plate and leaned back in the seat. “Oh my gosh, that was so good.”
I laughed. “I told you. It may not be the country barbecue you’re used to, but it’s good.”
The band had been playing all through dinner and we’d had to practically shout the whole time. When they took a break, we both sighed in relief.
“Shit. I didn’t think we’d be this close to the band.” I said with a chuckle.
The DJ tapped the mic. “Let’s take it back a few years, shall we?”
An old George Straight song played. I stood and took Liza’s hand in mine, leading her to the little dance floor. Her smile was so beautiful, and I loved how it made my stomach feel all kinds of weird. I pulled her into my arms.
“You look beautiful tonight,” I said, moving my lips close to her ear.
She gripped my shirt and held on tighter. I closed my eyes and held her to me. I could feel her heart beating against mine. We didn’t have to say a word as we danced, listening as the song played.
I pulled back and looked at her. Her eyes were glazing over with tears.
“Liza, I want to wake up every morning to your beautiful smile.”
