A Walk on the Water

Dominic posted a message to Alannah kidnappers - this message made it's way to her kidnappers, "I will continue to search until Alannah is found. If Alannah is found alive, those that have her can expect to find leniency. If she is found dead, then there will be no mercy and I personally will sentence you to death by the harshest means possible."

Nearly two days have passed without so much as a hint of where Alannah was at. Dominic was more than worried, he not only had Alannah to worry about, but the life of their unborn child to think of as well. He was beside himself with worry, he wasn't eating, barely sleeping. Every chance he got he was out looking for her, or down on his knees praying for her safe recovery.

As word reached Rosemary that Dominic would not rest until Alannah was found, her temperment changed only slightly. Inwardly she was a mess because she had beaten Alannah nearly to death and had denied her food and water, but outside she was happy to see Alannah lying helpless like a pathetic little doll. She took pitty on her after two days and looking at the stablehand she said to him , "I need you to try and wake her up and give her something to eat and drink . ."

The young stable-hand stared at Rosemary as though she were an inmate in an insane asylum, "Are you blind? You're uncontrollable beatting has almost killed her. You haven't fed her for two days, are you expecting a miracle?"

"If she can't be woken up, we are all as good as dead!" Rosemary shouted back.

"Then why don't you do it!" the stablehand retorted. "This was your brilliant idea, you got us into this mess now you need to fix it."

Rosemary glared at Alannah lifeless form slumped in the chair. "Where did Eraldo go to?"

"Don't know and I don't care."

"At least help me sit her up. And then get me some water."

The stable boy looked at Alannah's body covered by a filty blanket, he had a look of pitty on his face, one Rosemary did not see. He sat down next to Alannah and lifted her head to place it on a couple of pillows. "That is all I'm doing to help you! If she dies, it'll be on your head alone!"

"That's where you're wrong, Carlos!" Rosemary spat at him. "If she dies, we all hang! We are all to blame for this. Has your brother had any luck yet?"

Carlos sighed angrily and stood with his thumbs hooked in his suspenders. "We ain't found the father yet, and now with the brother missin' I can't be certain that he's still around. Senor Beringer has the island locked down, there is no way on or off the island . . "
