A Walk on the Water

"I'm not done talking Alannah, and no one said you could talk. If you get handed over to your father, you would still be alive and still married to Dominic. Yes your father may have wanted you to marry one of his business associates, but he would deal with things I'm sure. The problem with that is Alannah, is that I need you dead. So the way I see it is that if I hand you over to your brother Eraldo, the chances of you being killed are much better, but even that is not guaranteed because he tends to be sweet on you. By now your father's men have gotten word to your father that your brother is here on the island with an accomplice, your father has also heard that your brother is dead set on killing you. Now I wonder why your brother wants you dead, what is it that you know that makes your life so invaluable to them I wonder. I will make you a bet that the rage your father has will all at once be turned on your brother as your father will not be happy about the turn of events. Am I right?"
All Alannah did was glare at Rosemary, she knew it was useless to try and say anything in her defense.
"even though your brother has destroyed the family name, your father would think twice about turning on your brother, right? After all, your brother, is far more resourceful and dangerous than your father is, right? Say something, you miserable little toad!"
Alannah remained silent, she knew the state of mind Rosemary was in was not one to be reasoned with, if anything would just make matters worse.
"Just look at you!" Rosemary said in a low irritated voice. "you act as though you are untouchable, but everyone has their breaking point. I'll bet you didn't make a sound while your father whipped and beat you. That would certainly explain why he kept at you, he was trying to break your will. But that isn't your way, now is it?! No, in order to break you I have to get to your soul, so it has to be something else . . . something so morally degrading that you would want to die . . . something completley unthinkable! Maybe I should let the men have their way with you, but then again they probably wouldn't touch you for feart of Dominic's revenge. Dominic would sure chop the hand off of any man who defiled you, that or slice their heads off. Hmmm, maybe - Martin, come here." Alannah watched, eyes wide as a disgusting looking man walked into the room, turning to him Rosemary asked, "Alannah, you remember Martin right?"
