A Walk on the Water
Page 143Taking his bride into the bedroom and lying her gently down on the bed, he started kissing her tenderly, starting at her forehead. In between kisses he managed to say, "At the moment, my lovely wife you should be ready for a little . . . enlightenment. Now lets talk about this baby."
She stared at him in wonder as he lay down next to her on the bed. "How could you …."
As if to answer her broken thought, his body relaxing next to hers, he gently pulled her to him - and then he kissed her, more deeply and passionately than he ever had before, "As Dios is my witness mon ami I will love you for all eternity." His hands caressed her body lingering on her still flat stomach, "this baby was made out of love." He said looking up at her, "love that I have had from the first day I saw you sitting on that grassy knoll. Every baby you have after will have the very same love." They made sweet passionate love that night, and in his arms is how she drifted off to sleep.
She wasn't sure how long she lay in his arms, but the next morning when she woke, she smiled looking over at her husband, remembering the night before. Every time they made love the memories of what Eraldo did were scrubbed cleaner. She was no longer scared to be with her husband, it was a natural feeling to give into him and it was amazing to feel that way. As she stretched Dominic stirred, she leaned over and kissed him, even though she felt drowsy she also felt wonderful. Her stomached lurched as it had the previous day and she found herself over the toilet for the fourth time this week and once again time seemed to have stopped. Though the morning was still in its earliest stages, a grey-blue haze appeared in the eastern sky to greet her when she opened the curtains. She felt too excited and full of life to go back to bed.
She knelt down over her sleeping husband and kissed him, several times, causing him to stir just slightly, she smiled looking at him - there lay her knight in shining armor, walking back to the batroom, she showered, and then got dressed and went downstairs to find something to eat that would ease her stomach, and then went outside - alone.
The morning had a bite to it, but it was turning out to be a glorious day and she couldn't remember ever feeling so happy, so free, and so utterly at peace. A cool, morning breeze played on her skin, and tossed her long red hair up behind her as she stood by the back door, she felt as though she were as light as a feather right at that moment. The land itself reflected that of a dream world, covered in half-lights, mist and the shadows of trees covering the ground as the sun began to make it's appearance over the mountains.
