A Pryce Worth Paying
Page 14“You didn’t pick up - it was your sister on line two and she wanted to speak with you - call her on her cell ok?”
Thank goodness it wasn’t Thomas, she breathed with relief. She didn’t want to speak with him. She mulled over his possessiveness and how it progressed to a sense of ownership and how he could ravage her body without concern for her feelings. What he failed to explain to her was the reason for the sudden change and she felt that if he was unable to be open and honest with her now, what would their future be like. The thought made her shudder. Somehow she had to summon the courage to contact him, so if all went smoothly that afternoon she would consider calling him later - to slowly continue estranging herself from him. Then he would leave her alone she hoped. Maybe calling her sister back would be the ideal distraction from Thomas, she decided.
“Romi, hey how are you?” She feigned a cheerful tone.
“I’ was fine until mom called me at work, you know, the usual stuff...so how about we get out tonight? I’ll call Sara and the other ladies to see if they’ll join us ok? No excuses - no backing out.” Romina insisted.
